About this file

This is an Amendment 1 Feature Work List for the Maggie Gulch Project in Colorado, involving mine opening closures across multiple sites. The document outlines eleven distinct mine features requiring closure work, including adits, shafts, and stopes at various locations within the Maggie Gulch area. Closure methods vary by feature type and include corrugated steel pipe with bat grates, polyurethane foam backfill, steel grated shaft closures, and bat grates with access doors. Each feature is assigned a unique identifier with specific excavation dimensions, erosion measurements, present measurements, depth specifications, and lining characteristics. Work locations are identified by UTM coordinates using NAD83 datum, with access methods ranging from walking trails (distances of 0.2 to 0.75 miles with elevation gains of 200 to 550 vertical feet) to helicopter access for more remote sites. The document references Standard Drawings and Bid Specifications (SWS documents), with materials requirements including corrugated steel pipe, polyurethane foam, steel beams, and onsite fill materials.

The work description section provides detailed operational guidance for each feature, including material quantities, curing times, artifact protection measures, equipment access conditions, and coordination requirements with landowners and project managers. Notable specifications include the use of 5 cubic yards of polyurethane foam for Features 02 and 11, 24 cubic yards of polyurethane foam for Feature 03 with a four-day curing period, and one W4x13 beam for Feature 09. Several sites require helicopter access due to remote location and challenging terrain, while others permit limited off-road equipment access with prior authorization. Historic artifact preservation is emphasized, particularly at Feature 03 where artifacts must be protected during the polyurethane foam pouring process. The document does not specify pricing terms, contract duration, award dates, or funding sources.

Place a bottom form at 18 feet and pour 13 vertical feet with 24 cubic yards of PUF. Leave all historic artifacts in place while pouring. The debris that is collapsed into the shaft can be used to help make the bottom form.

The artifacts in and around the shaft will be protected to prevent them from being covered in PUF. Common fill for the top will be installed 4 days after the PUF has cured. Common fill will be scavenged from the parking area to avoid disturbing the historic artifacts around the shaft. Park at the site at the end of CR23, equipment access available, but no disturbance of artifacts is allowed.
