About this file

This is a Feature Work List for the PKAA Maggie Gulch Project in Colorado, detailing mine closure and remediation work across eleven identified features. The project involves sealing and stabilizing abandoned mining features using various closure methods including bat grates, corrugated steel pipe installations, polyurethane foam fills, and backfill operations. The work encompasses two adit features with standard bat grate closures (Features 04 and 06), three adit features requiring specialized closures with access doors or corrugated steel pipe systems (Features 02, 05, and 11), three shaft features to be filled with polyurethane foam or backfill materials (Features 03, 08, and 09), and one stope feature with an angled bat grate installation (Feature 10). Each feature is located at specific UTM coordinates on NAD83 datum and requires varying levels of site access, ranging from straightforward walking access to helicopter-assisted operations due to remote locations and challenging terrain.

Closure methods vary by feature type and condition, with specifications referencing Standard Drawings and specific work specifications (SWS documents). Work descriptions address site-specific considerations including artifact protection requirements, equipment access constraints, material sourcing from onsite locations, and specialized installation techniques such as polyurethane foam curing timelines. Access routes range from minimal disturbance parking areas to multi-mile hikes with significant vertical elevation changes of up to 550 vertical feet. Several features designated as BLM properties are included, and project implementation requires coordination with landowners and project management prior to mobilization. Quantities include specifications for corrugated steel pipe installations, polyurethane foam volumes ranging from 13 to 40 cubic yards per feature, and bat grate configurations adapted to individual opening dimensions.

Common fill will be scavenged from the parking area to avoid disturbing the historic artifacts around the shaft.
