About this file
This is a Vendor Questions and Answers document for solicitation AHEC-17705-D, a dust collection system and installation project for the Community College of Denver. The document addresses inquiries submitted by the specified deadline regarding project requirements and bidding procedures. Key procedural clarifications include that equivalent brands do not require pre-authorization to bid, though the College reserves the right to review and refuse quotes that do not meet or exceed specifications; vendors must provide complete specifications, product data sheets, and warranty information for any equivalent products. Attendance at the mandatory pre-quote walkthrough is required for all bidders, though vendors may partner with another company that attended as long as that attendee serves as the official bidder. The awarded bidder is responsible for providing all equipment and components necessary for the dust collection system and their complete installation.
The document clarifies technical specifications and responsibility allocations for the project. Previous confusion regarding which party would provide Nederman arms and Miller equipment—whether the bidder, General Air, or Airpro—is resolved by designating the awarded bidder as responsible for all equipment and components. Additional technical specifications regarding centerline height of the trunkline serving six booths and structural support requirements for mounting Nederman arms are addressed in referenced Addendum #1, which bidders must consult for complete design and installation guidance.

Answers to Questions
AHEC-17705-D
Dust Collection System and Installation Community College of Denver
This document contains all questions submitted by the deadline specified. Vendors’ inquiries are in black text and CCD’s answers are in red text.
Q1: Do equivalent brands have to be pre-authorized in order to bid?
A1: Equivalent brand equipment does not have to be pre-authorized as an approved equivalent in order to bid. However, the Community College of Denver will review all equivalent brands after bids are submitted to determine if they match or exceed the specifications of the brand/model listed. Please see the information below on equivalents (as found on page 7 of the solicitation):
Brand name or equivalent products are acceptable. Some model numbers and brand numbers are referenced above. Where brand names are provided, they are provided as a Reference Specification to products with a minimum level of quality acceptable to the brand names listed. Where a brand name or number is not indicated, any brand meeting the product specifications listed on the attachments is acceptable.
If quoting equivalents, brand name, model number, complete specifications, product data sheets and warranty information must accompany the quote. Alternate brands must match or exceed the specifications of the brand/model listed. If quoting equivalents, Community College of Denver will review and retains the right to refuse the quote if it does not meet specifications. Any quotes received that fail to include the required information as specified may be determined to be non-responsive, and subject to disqualification. Question regarding brand name wording.
Q2: Vendor missed date for walk-through. Can they still bid?
A2: No. If a vendor did not attend the mandatory pre-quote walkthrough, they will be unable to bid.
However, the vendor can partner with another which did attend the walk-through (as long as the attendee is the bidder when submitting quotes).
Q3: The Flag note #3 on sheet M-101 indicates ducting, extraction arms, equipment etc. are to be provided by owner under separate contract. The note on diagram A sheet M-001 indicate the 7' Nederman original arm is being provided by General Air. Airpro, Inc. is the exclusive provider for Nederman arms/equipment-not General Air. Who is to provide the Nederman arms? Bidder or General Air? Airpro? Who is providing the Miller equipment/arms? Bidder?
A3: The awarded bidder is responsible to provide all equipment/components necessary for the dust collection system and their installation.
Q4: What is the centerline height off the finished floor of the trunkline serving the six booths?
A4: See attached Addendum #1.
Q5: Is AHEC providing a support beam for which to mount the Nederman original arms or do we need to supply a wall bracket extension to extend the drop 3'-5' from the wall. In other words, do we mount the arm hanging bracket to the wall or to the booth support system?
The reason this is important is the Nederman wall bracket extension is between $300-$600 more than the standard wall bracket.
A5: See attached Addendum #1.
