Callahan North Residence Remodel – AG-9AC7-S-15-0104 Site Visit Meeting

5/19/2015 at 10:30 am

Attendees

Government Interested Vendors Marilyn Ladd, Contracting Officer Nik Branson with BNG Finish Products Dave Seiler, Klamath Engineering David McFall with Blitz Construction Kelly Nolan, Klamath Engineering IGM Construction/Allstate Enterprises Andrew Gerdes with Timberworks

The residence was opened up and vendors were free to look throughout the building including the attic.

Some general administrative questions were answered by the Contracting Officer regarding the evaluation factors (see Sections L and M of the solicitation). Vendors were advised to provide specific information and not simply re-state the government’s specifications.

After review of the facility the following areas were discussed.

Flooring – There was a discussion if new sub floor is required. The government decided this needs clarification. Note: See amendment 2.

Utility – Potentially the electrical panel may need to be relocated to a different side of the building to eliminate wiring over the metal roof. Per one of the attendees the local power company has restrictions. Note: See amendment 2.

Drywall – The removal of all the existing electrical and relocation of plumbing will require quite a bit of demolition of drywall on the inside. Note: See amendment 2.

Fireplace – Questions on if the specification requires the fireplace to be checked to verify functionality and to have the chimney cleaned. Note: See amendment 2

Hallway – This is a 7 foot ceiling that may be removed to same height as rest of the building once the duct work is removed. This will ease installation of the attic access ladder in the hallway. Note: See amendment 2

Siding: The old siding is nailed directly to studs. The government may need to change specifications. Note: See amendment 2

Windows: Drawings may need to be clarified as the sizes are not in inches. Note: See amendment 2

Note: Biobased: The Contracting Officer reminded vendors that if a government specified item is covered by biobased procurement preference then any proposed equivalent to the item will also be measured against this standard in determining if it is equivalent..
