SECTION 01010 - SUMMARY OF WORK
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE: Furnish all labor, equipment and materials required to renovate or repair facility as described in the contract documents. The work includes, but is not limited to, removing existing siding, removal and replacement of exterior bat insulation with R-15, installing new siding and house wrap, installing exterior wall ½” OSB sheathing, patching the roof, removal and repair of exposed wall framing where destroyed by wood eating pests or moisture, upgrading the electrical service to the building from its current 100 amp service to a new 200 amp service (verify final panel location with utility company prior to setting panel and other wiring to avoid possible conflict with roof) with circuits for a heat pump, installing a new heat pump and corresponding ductwork and concrete pad for the condenser, removing hallway 7’ drop ceiling and replace with drywall lid, tape and texture to match remaining ceiling and walls and to accommodate new attic access work, removing existing furnace (and it’s closet), kitchen chimney and all associated ductwork, patching any existing openings for components from existing ductwork, replacing all the windows, replacing the front and back doors and frames and hardware, installing new screen doors on both the back and front of the building, modifying the attic for the new heat pump, replacing all the interior and exterior light fixtures and their corresponding electrical components, removing existing linoleum flooring and particle board underlayment, removal and replacement of damaged or interfering portions of subfloor in kitchen, laundry area and bath, installing new carpet and vinyl flooring system, relocating or replacement of any plumbing lines as needed, installing new cabinets, countertops and backsplash, install venting hood and ducting over the stove, associated roof penetrations and flashing systems, removing gas piping for the gas dryer. Drywall removed on any wall to accommodate proposed improvements or utility work shall be removed completely and replaced, at a minimum, to the nearest corner transition point (floor to ceiling, wall corner to wall corner). Bathroom work includes remodeling existing bathroom and installing new bathroom with bathtub/shower, shower kit, surround, toilets, vanity, sinks, mirrors and towel racks in both baths, texturing and painting all walls and ceilings in the building, replacing damaged studs in the living room, sweep and clear existing chimney flue, and verify and repair, if necessary, fireplace stove proper operation and functionality, installing a new hearth for the wood stove to meet code compliance, installing new vinyl flooring in the front entryway, relocating a bathroom wall, constructing new walls and door frames, doors and hardware (suitable for bathrooms and bedrooms) constructing a partition wall with doorway, and installing a new water heater. All work shall be done in accordance with the contract documents and applicable state and local adopted building, electrical and plumbing codes.
1.02 CODES AND STANDARDS: All work shall be done in accordance with the 2010 California
Building Code, 2010 California Plumbing Code, 2010 California Electrical Code, 2010 California
Mechanical Code, 2010 California Fire Code, 2010 California Energy Code, and 2010 Architectural
Barriers Act (ABA) as specified elsewhere herein.

1.03 GOVERNMENT FURNISHED: Power and water are on the site for use by the Contractor.
Restrooms for construction workers shall be provided by the Contractor. Contractor shall be responsible for locating and protecting above and below ground utilities in the project areas.
1.04 WORK COORDINATION: The Contractor shall coordinate the work, scheduling and traffic control with the Contracting Officer. Pavement, buildings, landscaping and other improvements shall be protected by the contractor. The contractor shall be responsible for repairing any damage to improvements. All demolished materials generated by the work shall be removed from government land and disposed of by the contractor.
1.05 LOCATION: The project is located at the US Forest Service’s Callahan Guard Station’s North
Residence owned by the Klamath National Forest. The guard station is located at 12549 S Highway 3
Callahan, California 96014. Refer to project map on the plans
1.06 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: Measurement will be by the completed job and payment will be on a Lump Sum Unit Basis as provided for in Section B. Such payment will be considered full compensation for providing all materials, labor, equipment, tools and incidentals to reconstruct the north residence.

3.02 Exterior Siding, Doors & Windows
Remove existing siding, soffit, exposed insulation, and fascia. Dispose of all elements properly off of Forest Service property. Furnish and install new R-15 bat insulation where existing siding is removed and install new siding and building paper (or house wrap). Siding shall be LP
Architectural Collection 16” Double 8” Bold Profile or approved equal. Use matching LP
SmartSide trim and fascia or approved equal installed per manufacturer requirements, and LP
SmartSide Soffit for the eave and rake enclosures. Color and pattern to closely match existing siding. Siding to meet salient features described in section 094626 and building paper to meet specifications of section 07190.
Install new recessed or wall mounted LED lighting on both front and back of the residence at locations indicated on the plans. Light fixtures shall be energy star complaint.
Remove and dispose of all exterior windows and doors. Furnish and install new double pane vinyl windows according to section 08560 and flashed per code and industry standard. Contractor should expect to do additional framing as required to install new windows. Windows to have
AG-9AC7-S-15-0104 Page 4 of 105 Amendment 2 grilles between panes. See plans for window sizing. Bathroom windows to be frosted. Window colors to be approved by the Contracting Officer.
Furnish and install window blinds for all windows. Blinds to be 2-inch faux wood and installed per manufacturer’s instructions. Final color to be approved by the Contracting Officer. Blinds shall be in accordance with section 12510.
Furnish and install new 3068 exterior metal doors with metal frames according to section 08100.
All exterior doors shall have Schlage NDP53PD-RHO-626 locksets and to be keyed to match.
Exterior door color to closely match new siding on building. Interior doors to bedrooms and bathrooms to have privacy hardware. Exterior doors to have windows in upper third portion of door with grilles between panes. Furnish and install new screen doors according to section
081163.
Construct a new 3-ft x 3-ft x 4-inch concrete slab for new condenser. Final location of the pad to be determined by the engineer. Contractor should anticipate it to be on either the north or south side of the building. Concrete to be in accordance with section 03300.
3.03– Laundry Room
Remove & discard existing flooring, particle board underlayment, damaged subfloor, plumbing, and existing duct work, utility sink and water heater. Remove existing furnace, associated duct work and furnace room. Existing Pantry closet framing to remain or be replaced in kind at the contractor’s discretion. Remove north wall shared with bathroom. Reframe and construct new wall 1-foot further south of previous wall. See plans for locations. Remove existing electrical panel.
Install new dryer vent according to code. Furnish and install new washer stainless steel braided hoses. Plumbing to be in accordance with section 15400.
Furnish and install sheet vinyl flooring over ¼” plywood underlayment. Sheet vinyl flooring to meet specification of ASTM F 1303, Type II, Grade 1, Class A backing with a 500 psi static load limit when using ASTM F 970 and shall conform to the following fire performance specifications:
(1) ASTM E 648 Critical Radiant Flux of 0.45 watts per sq. cm. or greater, Class I. (2) ASTM E
662 (Smoke Generation) Maximum Specific Optical Density of 450 or less. Follow manufacturer’s instruction for installation of vinyl flooring. Install new 4” vinyl base. Color to be selected by the contracting officer. Vinyl flooring to be in accordance with section 09650.
Install 5/8” green board drywall (or equivalent) with tape and texture on all ceilings and walls and paint any exposed wall surfaces. Paint surfaces with two coats of contracting officer approved, acrylic latex paint. Ceilings shall be eggshell enamel and walls shall be semi-gloss. Follow manufacturer’s application instructions. Spray applications shall be back-rolled. Colors shall be approved by the contracting officer. Paint shall follow specifications in section 09900.
Furnish and install new electric water heater with pan and braces according to code. Furnish and install a new wall mounted, cast iron, utility sink by Kohler or approved equal with stainless steel braided hoses. Sink to be approved by the Contracting Officer. Space should be reserved to install a government furnished washer and dryer at the locations shown on the plans. Plumbing to be in accordance with section 15400. Electrical be in accordance with section 16010.

Construct new partition wall between laundry room and kitchen at locations shown on the plans.
Wall shall have a 3068 door and frame installed at locations shown on the plans. Door and frame to be approved by the contracting Officer. Door and frame shall be in accordance with section
08210.
Install new 90 CFM ventilation fan with light(s) at locations shown on the plans. Install new flat or recessed 90V-120V LED light fixture at locations shown on the plans. All light fixtures shall be energy star rated and approved by the Contracting Officer.
Furnish and install a combination smoke alarm and carbon monoxide (CO) detector in each bedroom & Hall outside bedrooms. Smoke alarm/CO Detector shall wired in series and have a
10-year lithium battery backup.
3.04– Bathroom Work
Remove & discard existing bathroom tub/shower, flooring, particle board underlayment plumbing, exhaust fan and light fixtures and towel bar. See plan for locations. Remove south wall. Reframe and construct new wall 1-foot to further south of previous wall.
Install 5/8” green board drywall (or equivalent) with tape and texture on all ceilings and walls in the new bathrooms and paint any exposed wall and ceiling surfaces. Paint surfaces with two coats of contracting officer approved, acrylic latex paint. Ceilings shall be eggshell enamel and walls shall be semi-gloss. Follow manufacturer’s application instructions. Spray applications shall be back-rolled. Colors shall be approved by the contracting officer. Paint shall follow specifications in section 09900.

Furnish and install a new 2-lamp, 90 minimum CFM ceiling exhaust ventilation heater bath fan with lights and associated wiring, switches and duct work. One lamp shall be a 250 Watt heat lamp and the other shall be a 150 Watt R40 lamp. Install exhaust fan per manufacturer’s instructions. Lights, heating and fan shall be controlled separately from each other. Furnish and install new wall mounted light fixture with 4 LED bulbs. Fixtures to be installed at locations shown on the drawings. Fixtures to be energy star rated and approved by the Contracting Officer.
Furnish and install new tub and shower surround in remodeled bathroom and new Neo-Corner shower kit in new bathroom. Colors and finish to be approved by contracting officer. Follow manufacturer’s instructions for installation. New tub to be cast iron and shall comply with ADA when installed per section 607 Bathtubs of the Act, CSA B651 when installed per clause 4.4.7 of the standard and OBC when installed per clause 3.8.3.13. Floor support under the bath must provide for a minimum 49 PSF loading. Tub shall have a minimum capacity of 33 gallons and shall include an integral apron. Furnish and install new single handle chrome finish, anti-scalding shower valve and matching shower head and drain assembles. Flow on system should be limited to maximum of 2.5 GPM with a temperature discharge tolerance of plus or minus 3 degrees and
AG-9AC7-S-15-0104 Page 6 of 105 Amendment 2 shall certified as conforming to CSA125.1 and ASME A112.18.1, as well as either ASSE 1016 or
ICCA117.1. Install plastic P-trap for drains and furnish drain plugs for winterization. Install new chrome towel bars and towel rings. Shower surround to be Class A (Class 1) surface burning characteristics as determined by testing identical products per UL 723 (ASTM E84) and have a flame spread index of 25 or less and a smoke developed index of 450. Shower surround to have a hardness over 85 according to ASTM D 785 on the Rockwell ‘M’ Scale, shown that material does not support microbial growth according to ASTM G21 & G22, have a tensile strength of 6,000 psi according to ASTM D 638 and a flexural strength of 10,000 psi according to ASTM D 790.
Plumbing to be in accordance with section 15400.
Furnish & install one porcelain 1.28 GPF (or less) elongated toilet with lid, stainless steel braided hoses and drain lines in each bathroom. Toilets to be installed at the location noted on the plans.
Plumbing for the toilets will need to be relocated to accommodate the new toilet locations. Toilets to be Kohler K-3609 with Aqua-Piston Flushing technology or approved equal. Color shall be white. Plumbing to be in accordance with section 15400. Install new chrome toilet paper holders.
Furnish & install new sink and vanity combination, countertop, mirrors, and wall mounted sink.
Vanity and countertop to match new cabinets and countertop installed in the kitchen. See schedule in the plans for vanity dimensions and desired layout. Sink to white integral style and shall be equal to Corian or approved equal. Install new chrome single lever lavatory faucets and drain assemblies by Moen, Delta or Price Phister or approved equal. Connect faucet using new braided stainless steel hoses. Install new plastic P-trap assemblies. Relocate supply and drain lines as required. Mirror to be 36” x 30”. Follow manufacturer’s recommendations for installation.
3.05 – Bedrooms
Remove & dispose of exiting light fixtures and associated wiring. Patch any existing vent openings not associated with new HVAC system.
Install new carpeting and padding. New carpet and padding type to be approved by the contracting officer. New carpet to be commercial 26-28 oz. solution dyed nylon loop pile with a
10-year limited warranty. Carpet color to be approved by the contracting officer. New carpet padding to have a minimum 8-pound density with a moisture barrier as recommended by a carpet manufacturer. Install new 4-inch rubber base. Carpet shall be in accordance with section 09680
Paint wall and ceiling surfaces with two coats of acrylic latex paint. Contracting officer to approve paint prior to application. Ceilings shall be eggshell, walls to be satin. Follow manufacturer’s application instructions. Spray applications shall be back-rolled. Colors shall be approved by the contracting officer. Paint shall be in accordance with section 09900.
Furnish and install new flat or recessed 90V-130V LED dimmable flight fixture(s) and associated wiring at locations shown on the drawings. Light fixtures shall be dimmable. Light fixture to be approved by the contracting officer. Light fixture shall be energy star compliant. Furnish and install a new telephone line jack and associated wiring in each bedroom. Final location to be approved by the contracting officer.
Furnish and install a combination smoke alarm and carbon monoxide (CO) detector in each room.
Smoke alarm/CO Detector shall wired in series and have a 10-year lithium battery backup.

Modify Bedroom #3 in conjunction with the construction of the new bathroom with new wood framed walls, doors and door frames, electrical, drywall, tape and texture, and finishes to the approximate layout shown on the Revision 1 drawings. Obtain field layout approval from the contracting officer prior to installation.
3.07- Hall
Remove 7’ drop ceiling and duct work above. Patch any existing vent openings not associated with new HVAC system.
Furnish and install new ceiling for low ceiling that was removed. New ceiling to be raised and match height of ceiling throughout residence. New ceiling to be 5/8” drywall, taped and textured.
Ceiling and walls to be painted after texturing. Paint all walls & ceiling surfaces with two coats of acrylic latex paint. Contracting officer to approve paint prior to application. Ceilings shall be painted eggshell enamel, walls shall be painted satin. Follow manufacturer’s application instructions. Spray applications shall be back-rolled. Colors shall be approved by the contracting officer. Paint to be in accordance with section 09900.
Furnish and install new flat or recessed 90V-130V LED light fixtures and associated wiring.
Light fixture to be approved by the contracting officer. Light fixtures shall be energy star compliant and installed at locations shown on the plans.
Install new attic access. New attic access to be a minimum of 54 inches by 30 inches and have a steel ladder. See plans for attic access location.
Furnish and install a combination smoke alarm and carbon monoxide (CO) detector in each area.
Smoke alarm/CO Detector shall wired in series and have a 10-year lithium battery backup.
3.08 - Heat Pump & Electrical Power Upgrades
Remove existing 2-wire electrical system throughout house. Install 3-wire non-metallic sheathed cable electrical throughout building according to electrical plan in the drawings and in accordance with section 16010. New electrical shall meet latest code. All new duplex convenience outlets & lighting outlets shall be arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) except outlets for refrigerator, washer, garbage disposal & exterior outlets. Electrical work to be in accordance with section 16010.
Remove existing 100- amp fused building service on north exterior of structure. Remove existing electrical panel in laundry room. Install a new 200 amp electrical service panel with circuits for new heat pump and all other circuits. Electrical work to be in accordance with section 16010.
Furnish and install new 2-inch Galvanized Rigid Steel riser with (3) #4/0 AWG Cross-Linked
High Heat Water Resistant Insulated Copper Wire. Electrical work to be in accordance with section 16010.
Furnish and install a new heat pump system and corresponding attic fan coil unit and ductwork.
Heat pump should be sized for the appropriate tonnage based on the ACCA Manual J. Heat pump to be approved by the contracting officer prior to installation. Heat pump to be installed per code and manufacturer’s specifications. Heat pump shall be able to handle a minimum airflow of 1000
CFM, have a minimum efficiency rating of 12.5 EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio), 15 SEER
(Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) as well as a minimum of 9.0 HSPF (Heating Seasonal
Performance Factor). Heat pump shall have a 30,000 BTUh total cooling capacity, 9,000 BTUh
AG-9AC7-S-15-0104 Page 8 of 105 Amendment 2 latent cooling capacity and 21,000 BTUh sensible cooling capacity. HVAC shall be in accordance with section 15500.
3.09 – Kitchen/Dining Room
Remove and dispose of existing chimney & drywall noted on the plans and any associated ductwork. Patch any existing vent openings not associated with new HVAC system. Remove existing lighting. Remove any drywall in the kitchen area. Replace any damage insulation prior to installing new drywall. Remove and dispose of any exiting cabinets and range.
Install flat or recessed dimmable LED light fixtures in the kitchen ceiling. See plans for light fixture locations. Fixtures to be energy star compliant and must be approved by the Contracting
Officer prior to installation. Furnish and install a telephone line jack and associated wiring. Final location to be approved by the Contracting Officer.
Remove existing vinyl flooring, particle board underlayment, and those portions of the moisture or pest damaged plywood subfloor. Furnish and install new plywood subfloor in removed sections to match existing subfloor thickness. Furnish and install sheet vinyl flooring over ¼” plywood underlayment throughout kitchen. Sheet vinyl flooring to meet specification of ASTM F 1303, Type II, Grade 1, Class A backing with a 500 psi static load limit when using ASTM F 970 and shall conform to the following fire performance specifications: (1) ASTM E 648 Critical Radiant
Flux of 0.45 watts per sq. cm. or greater, Class I. (2) ASTM E 662 (Smoke Generation)
Maximum Specific Optical Density of 450 or less. Follow manufacturer’s instruction for installation of vinyl flooring. Install new 4” vinyl base. Flooring to be in accordance with section
09650. Vinyl flooring to be light in color and shall match the flooring in the laundry room. Final color and pattern to be approved by the Contracting Officer.
Construct new partition wall between laundry room and kitchen at locations shown on the plans.
Wall shall have a 3068 door and frame installed at locations shown on the plans. Door and frame to be approved by the contracting Officer. Door and frame shall be in accordance with section
08210.
Furnish and install new kitchen cabinets in locations shown on the drawings. See cabinet schedule for details. Cabinets to be Merillat, or approved equal. Cabinets shall be Maple or Cherry wood with raised door shapes and stained finish. Cabinet color shall be dark brown, dark red or a combination of the colors. Final color selection shall closely resemble exterior siding color and be selected from the cabinet manufacturer’s standard color chart. When installing cabinets, space shall be reserved for a government furnished refrigerator and range oven shall be accounted for in locations noted on the drawings.
Furnish and install new solid surface countertops with matching backsplash. Countertops to have
1-1/2” bullnose and drip edge. Countertop on the east side of the kitchen in the “L”, shall have an overhang into the dining room to allow for an ‘Eat-in” kitchen. Countertop color to be patterned white with final pattern to be approved by the Contracting Officer.
Furnish and install new drywall. New ceiling to be 5/8” tape and textured drywall. Ceiling to be painted after texturing. Paint surfaces with two coats of acrylic latex paint. Contracting officer to approve paint prior to application. Ceilings shall be painted eggshell enamel and walls shall be semi-gloss. Follow manufacturer’s application instructions. Spray applications shall be back-

Furnish and install new sink and faucet. Furnish and install self-rimming 18 ga stainless 8 inch deep double kitchen sink & single handle kitchen faucet with sprayer. Provide Watts Series 2-8-
3H cast brass strainers or approved equal. Tie into the existing hot/cold water piping and waste piping in the adjoining wall. Use new hard copper water pipe and brass ¼ turn faucet shut-off valves. New drain piping and P-traps can be plastic. Connect faucet using new braided stainless steel hoses. Install garbage disposal and sink waste vent per code. Relocate existing plumbing to accommodate new sink as shown in the plans. Install contractor furnished range hood equal to
Merillat wall hood classic chimney or approved equal series complete with wiring, ducting and raincap. Install garbage disposal and sink waste vent per code. Relocate existing plumbing to accommodate new sink as shown in the plans. Plumbing to be in accordance with section 15400.
3.10– Living Room
Remove any existing plumbing/ductwork not associated with new HVAC system or wood stove.
Patch any openings from removal of plumbing/ductwork.
Replace exposed wall stud next to the existing fireplace. Expose adjunct studs for government to evaluate. If it is determined that other studs require replacing contractor shall replace up to four additional studs at no additional cost to the government.
Furnish and install new flat or recessed LED dimmable light fixtures at locations shown on the drawings and associated wiring. Light fixture to be approved by the contracting officer. Fixtures to be energy star compliant. Ceiling fan may be re-installed at the location shown on the plans.
Furnish and install new ceiling and walls as needed. New ceiling to be 5/8” tape and textured drywall. Ceiling to be painted after texturing. Paint surfaces with two coats of acrylic latex paint.
Contracting officer to approve paint prior to application. Ceilings shall be eggshell. Walls to be satin. Follow manufacturer’s application instructions. Spray applications shall be back-rolled.
Colors shall be approved by the contracting officer. Paint to be in accordance with section 09900
Remove existing wood stove and replace fire place hearth to meet code. Clean, service and re-install wood stove. Hearth pattern to be approved by the Contracting Officer.
Remove existing entryway flooring. Install new vinyl flooring in locations shown on the drawing.
Sheet vinyl flooring to meet specification of ASTM F 1303, Type II, Grade 1, Class A backing with a 500 psi static load limit when using ASTM F 970 and shall conform to the following fire performance specifications: (1) ASTM E 648 Critical Radiant Flux of 0.45 watts per sq. cm. or greater, Class I. (2) ASTM E 662 (Smoke Generation) Maximum Specific Optical Density of 450 or less. Follow manufacturer’s instruction for installation of vinyl flooring. Install new 4” vinyl base. Flooring to be in accordance with section 09650.
Furnish and install a combination smoke alarm and carbon monoxide (CO) detector. Smoke alarm/CO Detector shall wired in series and have a 10-year lithium battery backup.
3.11 – Roof Structure
Patch & caulk existing hole in roof above laundry room.
Frame access for new attic opening with a minimum of (2)2x12 ceiling joists. Contractor to submit proposed framing plan to contracting officer for approval prior to performing framing

C. Catalog Data: Provide catalog cuts, data, pertinent information and other items specified or as directed by the Contracting Officer. Clearly indicate by circling or highlighting each Item.
3.02 APPROVALS: Approval of satisfactory samples, substitutions and shop drawings will be made within 14 calendar days of the receipt of the submittal. Upon approval two copies of the approved shop drawings, samples and other items will be returned to the contractor. The Contracting Officer will retain the reproducible.

3.03 RESUBMITTAL: When a resubmittal is required, one print so indicating will be returned to the
Contractor. After revisions of the original, three new copies including one reproducible shall be submitted for approval.
3.04 TIMING: Make submittals far enough in advance of the scheduled dates of installation to provide time for reviews, for securing necessary approvals, for possible revisions and resubmittals and for placing orders and securing delivery.
3.05 No portion of the work requiring a shop drawing, sample, or catalog data shall be started nor shall any materials be fabricated or installed prior to the approval of such Item.

SECTION 01640 - PRODUCT HANDLING
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 DESCRIPTION: Work includes protecting products scheduled for use in the work by means including, but not necessarily limited to, those described in this section.
1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE: Include within the Contractor's quality assurance program such procedures as are required to assure full protection of work and materials.
1.03 TESTING LABORATORY RECOMMENDATIONS: Except as otherwise approved by the
Contracting Officer, determine and comply with testing Laboratory's recommendations on product handling, storage and protection.
1.04 PACKAGING:
A. Delivery of products to the job site:
1. Maintain packaged materials with seal unbroken and labels Intact until time of use.
2. Promptly remove damaged material and unsuitable items from the job site, and promptly replace with material meeting the specified requirements, at no additional cost to the Government.
B. The Contracting Officer will reject as non-complying such material and products that do not bear identification satisfactory to the Contracting Officer as to grade, quality, and other pertinent information.
1.05 PROTECTION:
A. Protect finished surfaces over which equipment and materials are handled.
B. Maintain finished surfaces suitably protected until accepted by the Government.
1.06 REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS:
A. In event of damage, promptly make replacements or repairs to the item as directed and approved by the Contracting Officer and at no additional cost to the Government.
B. Additional time required to secure replacements and to make repairs will not be considered by the Contracting Officer to justify an extension of the contract time.

SECTION 01711 - CLEAN UP AND DISPOSAL
PART I GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE: This work consists of the cleanup required in areas affected by the construction, the final cleanup of the project, and the disposal of refuse and excess material resulting from construction operations.
1.02 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: No separate measurement or payment will be made for the work specified in this section.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 PRODUCTS: All cleaning materials and equipment used shall be selected and used with care to avoid scratching, marring, defacing, staining or discoloring the surfaces cleaned.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 EXCESS MATERIALS AND REFUSE: All refuse and unused materials generated by the
Contractor's operations including wood, asphalt, concrete, vegetative materials and the like shall be removed from the project site and disposed of off Government land in accordance with local regulations.
3.02 CLEAN–UP DURING CONSTRUCTION: The Contractor as required to prevent accidents to personnel and protect all work in-place shall perform clean-up. Construction clean-up shall consist of the removal of all dirt, trash, scrap, debris, and excess materials from any floor space or walking surface that may cause the tripping or sliding of workers, ladders, equipment and the like.
3.03 FINAL CLEAN-UP: Immediately prior to the Contractor's request for final inspection of the project, a thorough final cleanup of the entire project site shall be performed.
3.04 QUALITY OF CLEAN-UP: In addition to the normal "broom clean" requirements, the exposed surfaces of the following materials shall be cleaned as listed below:
A. Glass: Remove excess putty, stickers and paint and then wash, and polish.
B. Painted Surfaces: Remove marks, stains, fingerprints, and dirt.
C. Roof: Remove all dust, dirt, and debris. Clean all gutters.
D. Hardware: Clean and polish.
E. Site: Remove all trash, debris, and surplus excavated material. No items shall be left or discarded elsewhere on the site. Items that will be discarded shall be removed from Government property and disposed of in accordance with all applicable state and local regulations. Leave premises "broom clean”.

F. Toilet Fixtures and Accessories: Remove protective covering, spots, dirt, paint, labels, and adhesives. Wash clean and clear.
G. General: Remove paper labels from glass fixtures and equipment only after respective items have been inspected, verified and approved to assure that each complies with requirements of the
Specifications and Drawings. Labels and plates that are permanently attached to equipment shall not be removed. Remove paint and clean all permanent labels so that they are legible.
3.05 SALVAGEABLE ITEMS: Salvageable items not intended for use in this contract and not specifically designated to remain on the property of the Government shall become the property of the
Contractor.

SECTION 03100 - CONCRETE FORMWORK
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE: This work shall consist of furnishing and placing all formwork, formwork supports, formwork coating and soaking, screeds and levels required. Work shall also include all formwork removal.
1.02 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: No separate payment will be made for the work of this
Section.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 FORM COATINGS: Provide commercial formulation form coating compounds that will not bond with, stain, nor adversely affect concrete surface's bond or adhesion, nor impede the wetting of surfaces to be cured with water or curing compounds.
2.02 FORMS: Forms shall consist of plyform grade plywood, or approved equal, for exposed work;
and boarding or plywood for concealed work.
2.03 WALERS, STUDS, AND BRACES: Support materials shall be of size and spacing to assure satisfactory alignment and strength of forms.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION: All formwork shall be built accurately to the dimensions of the formed structure
AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS. Forms shall be of sufficient strength to withstand any load during construction without undue deflection, bulging, shifting and the like. Formwork shall be adjusted as required for the installation of work by others.
A. Form Coatings: Coatings shall be applied according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
B. Cleaning Forms: At the time concrete is placed in the forms, the surfaces of the forms shall be free from mortar or grout deposits or other foreign material.
C. Soaking: Forms shall be completely soaked until all joints are tight immediately before placement of concrete.
D. Approval of Work: All forms and foundations shall be approved by the Contracting Officer before placement of concrete.
3.02 REMOVAL OF FORMS:
A. General: No form shall be removed until approval from the Contracting Officer is obtained.
B. Forms: Forms shall not be disturbed for at least seven days after the last concrete is placed, except as authorized by the Contracting Officer.

SECTION 03200 - CONCRETE REINFORCEMENT
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE: The work of this Section consists of furnishing and placing the reinforcing steel required for this project AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS or as specified herein.
1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE: The fabrication and placement of the reinforcing steel shall be done in accordance with the following:
A. California Building Code (CBC), 2010 edition.
B. Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute's (CRSI) "Manual of Standard Practice.
C. CRSI "Placing Reinforcing Bars."
D. CRSI "Reinforcement Anchorages and Splices."
E. American Concrete Institute (ACI) "Building Code requirements for Reinforced Concrete"
ACI 318.
F. ACI 315 "Manual of Standard Practice for Detailing Reinforced Concrete Structures."
1.03 SUBMITTALS: Data necessary to prove compliance with the Contract
Documents shall be submitted in accordance with Section 01340.
1.04 PRODUCT HANDLING:
A. Comply with Section 01640.
B. Store reinforcing steel on timbers on the ground in such a manner as to prevent excessive rusting and to keep the steel free of mud, dirt, grease, oil and other bond-reducing coatings.
C. Maintain bundle identification after bundles are broken.
1.05 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: No separate measurement or payment will be made for the work specified in this Section.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 REINFORCING MATERIALS AND ACCESSORIES:
A. Bars: Provide deformed billet steel bars meeting the requirements of ASTM A 615, Grade 60.
B. Steel Wire: Shall meet the requirements of ASTM A 82. The wire shall be No. 16 gauge minimum, black, soft-annealed steel.
C. Welded Wire Fabric (If Shown on The Drawings): Shall meet the requirements of ASTM A
185.
D. Bolsters, chairs, spacers, dobies and other devices for spacing, supporting, and fastening reinforcement in place shall be in accordance with CRSI recommendations and of the proper size to insure correct location, spacing and clearances of the reinforcement.

2.02 FABRICATION: Fabricate reinforcing bars to the required shapes and dimensions AS SHOWN ON
THE DRAWINGS or specified herein.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION:
A. General:
1. Comply with the specified standards for detail and method of placing reinforcement and supports, except as may be modified herein.
2. Clean reinforcement to remove loose rust and mill scale, earth, and other materials which reduce or destroy bond with concrete.
3. Position, support, and secure reinforcement against displacement by formwork, construction, and concrete placing operations.
4. Locate and support reinforcement by metal chairs, runners, bolsters, spacers, dobies, and hangers as required so the rebar remains at the proper locations.
5. Place reinforcement to obtain minimum coverages for concrete protection.
6. Arrange, space, and securely tie bars and bar supports together with the specified tie wire.
7. Set wire ties so twisted ends are directed away from exposed concrete surfaces.
B. Install welded wire fabric (if shown) in the longest lengths practicable; lapping adjoining pieces at least one full mesh.
C. Provide sufficient numbers of supports and of sufficient strength to carry the reinforcement.
D. Do not place reinforcing bars more than two inches beyond last leg of any continuous bar support.
E. Do not use supports as bases for runways for concrete conveying equipment and similar construction loads.
3.02 SPLICES:
A. Lap Splices: Tie securely with the specified wire to prevent displacement of splices during placement of concrete.
B. Splice Devices:
1. Obtain the Contracting Officer's approval prior to using splice devices.
2. Install in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions.
3. Splice in a manner developing at least 125 percent of the yielding strength of the bar.
C. Do not splice bars except at locations shown on the drawings, except as otherwise specifically approved by the Contracting.

SECTION 03300 - CONCRETE
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE: The work specified in this section is to install concrete flat work, retaining walls, stairs, column bases, and footings. The work shall include but not be limited to excavation for slabs, sidewalks, stairs, ramps, retaining walls, footings and the like; forming, reinforcing and installation of the concrete and installing embedded items and incidentals AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS and herein specified.
1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE:
A. The work shall be done in accordance with the latest edition of the following:
American Concrete Institute’s (ACI) Standards 318, 117, 305R, 306R, 304, 308, 309 and
ACI “Slabs-on-Grade”.
Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute’s (CRSI) Manual of Standard Practice
#MSP-2.
Portland Cement Association’s Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures.
B. Provide test reports and mill certificates and other technical data showing cement provided meets the requirements AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS and herein specified.
1.03 SUBMITTALS: Submit in accordance with Section 01340 a concrete mix design to be used for the concrete on the project for review and approval by the Contracting Officer. Mix design shall show maximum permissible job site addition of water.
1.04 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: No separate measurement or payment will be made for the work of this section.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 MATERIALS: Materials shall be AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS and as specified herein.
2.02 PORTLAND CEMENT: Portland cement shall meet the requirements of ASTM C150, Type II.
Cement shall be same brand for all the work.
2.03 ADMIXTURES: A minimum of 20% Fly Ash is to be used. Use only standard brand admixtures approved by the Contracting Officer.
2.04 AGGREGATES: Aggregates shall meet the requirements of ASTM C33.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 MIXING: Ready-mix concrete shall be batched, mixed and transported in accordance with ASTM
C94.

3.02 WATER ADDITION: Normally do not deliver concrete with total amount of permissible water already added. Withhold at least 2-½ gallons of water per cubic yard of concrete and add at the job site for proper workability and mix thoroughly for at least 5 minutes. Do not add water after the discharge of concrete has commenced. Water cement ratio shall not exceed 0.45. Do not exceed the maximum mix design’s water/cement ratio or maximum slump.
3.03 DELIVERY TIME: Concrete will be rejected if not discharged within 1-½ hours unless a mix design with retarder has been approved by the Contracting Officer.
3.04 QUALITY CONTROL: In addition to the Contractor’s sampling and testing as required the concrete, at the Contracting Officer’s option, may be sampled and tested as follows:
A. ASTM C172 “Method of Sampling Fresh Concrete”
B. ASTM C143 “Slump”
C. ASTM C231 “Air Content”
D. ASTM C39 “Cylinders-Compression Test”
3.05 CONSOLIDATION: Concrete footings, retaining walls, slabs and the like shall be vibrated but care shall be taken to insure the concrete is not over vibrated. Do not use vibration to move the concrete.
3.06 PLACEMENT/FINISH: Place and finish concrete AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS.
3.07 CLEAN UP: The Contractor shall thoroughly clean the project site of all debris, construction materials and the like prior to requesting final inspection and payment. All debris and the like resulting from the work shall be removed from Government property and properly disposed of in accordance with
City and State regulations.
3.08 SAFETY: The contractor has sole responsibility for the safety of the workers and all other person who may be affected by the work.

SECTION 06100 - ROUGH CARPENTRY

1.01 SCOPE: The work of this Section consists of furnishing and installing all rough carpentry such as;
