WITCH FIRE ROAD REPAIRS

819 SPS - RIPRAP

SPECIAL PROJECT SPECIFICATION

SECTION 819 – RIPRAP

Add the following:

819-1(a) Riprap for drainage armor:

Riprap for drainage armor shall be Class II. Riprap shall be placed on the embankment side beyond the traveled way, on the downstream side of the drainage dip, for a slope distance of approximately seven (7) feet by eight (8) feet along the roadway by approximately two (2) feet thick.

Construct drainage armor as staked on the ground and in accordance with drawing 819. Numbers of installations are shown on the quantity sheet by road.

819-1(b) Riprap for hardened crossing:

Riprap for hardened crossing shall be Class II. Riprap shall be placed on the traveled way where cross drainage has rutted and softened the subgrade. Dimensions of the hardened crossings are approximately twelve (12) feet wide (road width) by five (5) feet long (along the road traveled way) by one (1) foot thick.

Construct the hardened crossings as staked on the ground and in accordance with drawing 819. Numbers of installations are shown on the quantity sheet by road.

832-2 SPS OUTLET/OSD STRUCTURES

SECTION 832-2

OUTLET / OVER-SIDE DRAIN STRUCTURES

832-2.01 Description

This work consists of fabrication and installation of outlet / over-side drain structures.

Structures shall be 18” half-round over-side drains and flume. Contractor shall furnish all material, labor, equipment, and transportation necessary to perform the work in this specification. Contractor shall submit fabrication drawing for review and approval prior to installation.

832-2.02 Material

Contractor will provide 18” Cleveland half-round over-side drain inlet, 10 feet of 18” half-round flume, stakes, and all other connecting and installation materials. Inlet and flume shall be 18-inch diameter, 0.064-inch thick (16 gauge), zinc coated, half-round corrugated steel pipe. See drawings (832-2) for inlet fabrication, assembly details and installation requirements.

To prevent electrolysis or physical failure, use materials in each pipe installation that are compatible with each other.

Clean and paint damaged galvanized coating caused by welding, field cutting, or mishandling with a zinc rich coating.

832-2.03 Installation

The locations of individual drains/pipes WILL BE MARKED ON THE GROUND by the on-site engineer or COR prior to installation.

Outlet structures shall be securely installed to the flow line grade established by the Drainage Dip. Adjacent earth berms shall be filled, shaped, and compacted to provide a continuous drainage channel to the outlet structure. Borrow material needed for berm construction located within one-quarter mile of the dip will not be measured for payment and will be considered incidental to the outlet structure installation. Flume shall be installed so that no reverse grade exists and that no part varies from a straight line drawn from inlet to end of flume by more that 2 percent.

832-2.04 Measurement

832-2 SPS OUTLET/OSD STRUCTURES

The quantity to be measured will be the completed number of units of the various items listed in the SCHEDULE OF ITEMS and accepted under this Section.

Contractor to notify COR of placement schedule, a minimum of 5 days prior to commencing installation of any over-side drains. If any changes occur in placement schedule, notify COR of modifications at least 3 working days prior to placement of additional over-side drains.

832-2.05 Payment

A. The accepted quantities will be paid at the contract unit price shown in the SCHEDULE

OF ITEMS.

B. Payment will be made under:

834-2 SPS DRAINAGE STRUCTURE REPLACEMENT

SECTION 834-2

DRAINAGE STRUCTURE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

834-2.01 Description

This work consists of, removal of existing culvert and installation of a new 24” culvert. The contractor shall furnish all material, labor, equipment, and transportation necessary to perform the work in this specification.

834-2.02 Material

Contractor will provide a new 24” culvert for installation. The inlet section material shall be compatible with the new corrugated steel culvert.

Clean and paint any damaged galvanized coating caused by welding, field cutting, or mishandling with a zinc rich coating.

Contractor to provide technical data about product for FS review and approval prior to installation.

834-2.03 Installation

The location of the culvert removal and new culvert installation SHALL BE MARKED ON THE GROUND by the COR prior to removal/installation.

The inlet structure shall be securely installed to the new culvert in the flow line grade of the channel. Upstream channel shall be cleaned of debris a total of 10 feet above the inlet.

834-2.04 Measurement

The quantity to be measured will be the completed number of units listed in the SCHEDULE OF ITEMS and accepted under this Section. Contractor to notify COR of placement schedule a minimum of 5 days prior to commencing installation of any inlet assemblies.

834-2.05 Payment

The accepted quantities will be paid at the contract unit price shown in the SCHEDULE OF ITEMS.

Payment will be made under:

834-4 Drainage Structure Mtc. – Furnish and Install Culvert/Flared End AQ Each

839 SPS RESTORE DRAINAGE FUNCTION

SECTION 839 – RESTORE DRAINAGE FUNCTION

Add the following:

839.03.01(a)

Construct rolling dips with lead off ditches as staked on the ground and in accordance with drawing 837-1.

839.03.02(a)

Construct rolling dips where staked on the ground and in accordance with drawing 837-1.
