SECTION 02100 - DEMOLITION
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE
A. This section includes the requirements covering demolition and disposal of excess material resulting from demolition of existing boarding floats and accessories AS
SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS; and cleanup work required in areas affected by construction. This includes restoration of resulting trench holes and pits to the level of existing adjacent ground contours and surfaces including compaction.

1.03 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT
A. Unit of Measurement:
1. Lump Sum (LS). One complete unit, which may consist of one or more parts.
B. Method of Measurement:
1. Lump Sum Quantities (LSQ). These quantities denote one complete unit of work as required or described in the Contract, including necessary materials, equipment, and labor to complete the Work. They will not be measured.
C. Payment:
1. For each individual item listed here and on the Schedule of Items, payment shall be full compensation for all work related to the particular item in accordance with these specifications, as shown on the drawings, and as staked in the field.
2. Measurement and payment for contract work shall be made only for and under those pay items included in the SCHEDULE OF ITEMS. All other work and materials shall be considered incidental or as included in the payment for items shown.

PART 2 – PRODUCTS
2.01 Materials
A. Cement - Type I or Type II Portland Cement: ASTM C150.
B. Aggregate - For minor concrete structures, aggregate must meet AASHO M 80 and the class designations that are appropriate for end use and weathering exposure.

C. Water - Clear, clean, and suitable for domestic consumption.
2.02 Concrete Mix – Provide a standard commercially produced 3,500 psi minimum compressive strength at 28 days, air entrainment of 4-6%, and slump of 3-5 inches.
2.03 Admixtures
A. Air entraining admixtures shall comply with ASTM-C260.
B. Water reducing retarding admixtures shall comply with ASTM C494, Type D. Water admixtures may be used when approved by the Contracting Officer. The time limit between batching and placing concrete may be extended up to an additional 2 hours in accordance with the manufacturer.
Furnish the following to the Contractor Officer for approval. Brand name, amount of admixture and reason for requesting the use of the admixture.
PART 3 –EXECUTION
3.01 GENERAL
A. All boarding floats, gangplanks, cable vaults, concrete anchors, wire rope, hardware, construction debris, and other waste generated as a result of demolition under this specification; become property of the Contractor and shall be removed from Forest
Service lands and properly disposed of in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local Government laws, regulations, and codes.
B. The contractor shall demolish seven (7) existing cable vaults with wire rope, concrete anchors, and accessories. The existing concrete cable vaults shall be removed to a minimum depth of 6” below grade and the remaining vault filled with concrete. Concrete finish grade shall be even with existing boat ramp or ground surface. At locations where a new concrete cable vault will be installed in the same location as the existing vault, the existing vault material shall be completely removed.
3.02 CLEANUP
A. All construction debris from boarding float construction and installation, and demolition of existing conditions, shall be cleaned up and disposed of off of National Forest Land.
