A- No. the contractor is responsible for providing the historic treatment specialist meeting the qualifications stated in specification 013591.
2. Q-It appears the south side of the Fire Cache building has a large opening that was covered up. Do you want to blend the siding in so the old opening is not so noticeable? A- Yes. Blend the siding in.
3. Q-Are there any trailer pads available for use during construction? A-There are trailer pads at the Snake River GS that could possibly be used if the government doesn’t need them for staff next summer.
4. Q- Several notes say siding to investigate and replace, can we be given a definite quantity to bid, how are we to know how much siding may need to get replaced. A- The amount of siding to be replaced will be difficult to quantify until the restoration process is started. Contractors are encouraged to visit the site and use their professional judgment to estimate the quantity of siding that will need to be replaced.
5. Q- The fence around 1328 is shown but no gate, there is detail for a gate, please clarify if and where the gate is located. A- A gate is required, and will be located by the contracting officer during construction.
6. Q- Also on the drawings it says to replace the broken glass, can you let us know how many pieces of broken glass there are? A-The amount of glass to be replaced will be difficult to quantify until the restoration process is started. Some glass may appear sound, but prove unsound during removal or installation. Contractors are encouraged to visit the site and use their professional judgment to estimate the quantity of glass that will need to be replaced.
7. Q- Bldg 1339 shows a new sliding door but there are no notes that the wall has to be removed, is this wall going to be removed by others before we get there? A- The existing condition is a modern garage door that will need to be removed in order to install the new sliding door.
8. Q- Sheet A3.2 there is no note #5 on the drawings. A-Yes there is. You might need to download the drawing package again. “REMOVE ANY DECORATIVE HISTORIC TRIM AND PROTECT FOR REINSTALLATION. PROVIDE AND INSTALL NEW ½" OSB OR PLYWOOD SKIP SHEATHING OVER EXISTING SKIP SHEATHING.”
9. Q- There is a spec section for drywall but we did not see one note on the drawings that deals with drywall, please clarify. A- After the windows and doors are replaced it is likely some drywall will need to be repaired or replaced as part of the trimming and finishing process.
10. Q- Maybe I am wrong but I though ADA compliant ramps if new have to be 1:20 not 1:12. A- Ramp slopes between 1:16 and 1:20 are preferred. The maximum slope of a ramp in new construction shall be 1:12.
11. Q- Can we use Sugar Pine or Clear VG Fir in place of Ponderosa Pine for sash material?
