Response to Questions November 30, 2015

Question: Once traps are installed, are they to be continuously serviced throughout the contract period, or until temperatures consistently fail to reach the 50°F growing temperature?

Response: Service checks shall occur according to the number of days specified for each type of trap

(see paragraph 2.0): “For Purple Prism traps the EAB lures efficacy is approximately 60 days. Therefore traps shall be serviced 60 days after initial deployment. This check includes replacing the lure and the collection of any suspect insects … Service checks for Green Funnel Traps shall occur every 14‐21 days after initial deployment and entails the collection of any suspect EAB and replenishment or replacement of polypropylene glycol in the collection cup. EAB lure efficacy is approximately 60 days, therefore at 60 days change the lure at that service check.”

Contractors are reminded that “Regardless of the initial placement date and the first check date the traps shall not be removed prior to 1500 growing degree days or August 1st whichever is LATER.” (See paragraph 3.7, Trap Removal.)
