Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest - AG-4419-S-10-0720
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Question:
Are there any tank cleaning, or sludge removal?
Answer:
Yes, the project includes removal, transport, and disposal of lagoon bottom sludge is a part of the contract. See Section 02 41 19 in the specifications for specific details and the plans for details for the existing lagoons.
Question:
Can the directional bore all the water lines and all the sanitary sewer lines? And if we can is there any reason we can’t keep the sanitary line lower so that we don’t have to insulate like they are showing now.
Answer:
It is acceptable if a contractor wants to directional drill the entire project as long as the low points are maintained for drainage (would allow for line to be completely suctioned out) and the high points are maintained for air release. The plan shows the low pressure sewer pipe inserted inside much of the existing gravity sewer in order to limit surface disturbance and tree removal within the campground. Directional drilling will accomplish the same thing.
Lowering the low pressure sewer pipe is okay as long as the drainage points are maintained as well as the high points, as noted above. Insulation would not be required if the utility pipe or structure is located below the frost line. Lowering the STEP tanks is not acceptable.
