6. QUESTION: Dewatering – If I am reading the dewatering requirements right, the plan you have is just a guideline for dewatering. We can make our own dewatering plan and submit it to you? So we could choose to pump around and/or construct an open channel for the water to flow through? We are not required to place a bypass pipe?
RESPONSE: Section C.6.d: Dewatering Plan. Due to the proximity of water, the Contractor shall submit a Dewatering Plan, for the purpose of protecting the abutment foundations. The Contractor is solely responsible for the development and execution of their dewatering plan.
The Contractor’s Dewatering Plan will be reviewed and approved according to the contract documents and protecting the resource.
Also see the “Requirements” notes on Sheet 12 of 12 including “This sheet illustrates the general dewatering requirements and possible methods and equipment, and is not considered adequate or complete for this project”.
7. QUESTION: I do not see an item for the 6” aggregate base course under the asphalt binder pavement. Is this included in an item or incidental to other items of work?
RESPONSE: Bid Item 32401 Crushed Aggregate Base, PennDOT 3/4" minus gradation, Compaction D includes this work.
