1. The HVAC installation shall include appropriate weather proofing of all exterior components. Offeror shall include weather proofing recommendations in its Offer.
Does this specification call for Microguard Coating for exterior, fans, and coils?
The IFB requires the installation to include appropriate weather proofing of all exterior components but does not specify a brand of protective coating. The term appropriate used in this context means specialized weather proofing systems made for HVAC applications. Please include in your bid appropriate weather proofing.
2. Does "complete removal" include the complete replacement of all piping, covers, electrical disconnects?
Yes, the complete removal of the existing HVAC system includes everything including the complete replacement of all piping, covers, and electrical disconnects.
3. Could you confirm whether PSX700 & Blygold is required as weather proofing as coating by a 3rd party company?
The IFB requires the installation to include appropriate weather proofing of all exterior components but does not specify a brand of protective coating. The term appropriate used in this context means specialized weather proofing systems made for HVAC applications. Please include in your bid appropriate weather proofing.
4. Aloha, can you please advise if you want all new refrigerant lines or for us to utilize existing lines? If we reuse the existing, a change order might be needed if we find lines that are compromised.
The complete removal of the existing HVAC system includes everything including all the refrigerant lines and replacing them with new refrigerant lines.
5. To show sufficient experience, shall all bidders show history of at least six (6) successful VRF installation jobs?
There is no minimum requirement for the submission list for successful installation jobs. The IFB requires a list of companies as references for whom the vendor has provided services specified herein. The State reserves the right to contact any reference to inquire about the vendor’s past performance.
6. Will bidders be required to submit Fujitsu Airstage piping diagram to ensure proper pipe sizing?
The vendor bid should include an installation diagram to support the overall installation and costs of the project. In regard to ensuring that the proper pipe sizes are used, the vendor shall use its knowledge and expertise to use the proper pipe sizes for this project.
7. Could you provide electrical plans to ensure wiring is sized properly for the new equipment?
Unfortunately, the AMHD does not have any electrical plans available. The Kauai Friendship House building drawings from the previous HVAC installation included as Addendum One to this IFB is the only relevant document that AMHD has in its possession. The mandatory vendor site visit should have helped in answering any questions.
8. Will a witness test of each system holding at 500 microns or lower for four (4) hours to ensure a leak-free system be required?
The IFB requires that an operational test must be performed after the installation completion to ensure proper operation of the HVAC systems. There are no specifications regarding the operational test itself. The vendor shall conduct its standard operational test after the installation is completed and confirm that the HVAC system is operating properly which shall be sufficient to satisfy the operational test requirement in the IFB.
9. Is certified payroll required, to ensure all wages are competitive?
Certification of payroll is not required. Please complete, sign, date, and submit the Wage Certificate for Service Contracts which is included in the IFB.
10. Will submission of a list of subcontractors suffice for "prior written approval" of subcontractors?
Please submit a list of subcontractors that will be used on this project.
Subcontractors are subject to State contracting requirements.
