About this file
This document is a Quasi-Solicitation (QSP) Addendum #1 issued by the Lowell Housing Authority for a microphone system procurement (QSP 2025-15A). The addendum provides clarifications and answers to bidder questions regarding a wireless microphone system upgrade, which includes replacing 12 existing wireless microphone receivers and adding 13 total wireless channels using Shure ULXD equipment. The project involves updating frequency bands from -G50 to -G57, replacing an antenna distribution unit, and potentially reusing existing cabling.
Key technical details include using the Shure UA844+SWB/LC antenna distribution unit, utilizing SB900C rechargeable batteries, and preferring a charging solution that allows batteries to remain installed in the wireless transmitters. The housing authority is open to cost-reduction strategies, such as testing and potentially reusing existing cabling for the 12 new wireless microphone receivers. Antennas will remain installed in the kitchen rack, and the overall scope involves modernizing the existing microphone infrastructure with minimal disruption to the current setup.

QSP ADDENDUM #1
To: All Bidders
From: Rita V. Brousseau, Chief Procurement Officer
Date: October 24, 2025
Re: QSP 2025-15A Microphones
This Addendum modifies and forms a part of the Bid Set documents dated October 21, 2025.
This Addendum consists of the following: Two (2) typed pages.
Where any items called for in the bid documents are supplemented here, the supplemental requirements shall be considered as added thereto. Where any original item is amended, voided, or superseded here, the other provisions of such items not specifically amended, voided, or superseded shall remain in effect.
THE NUMBER OF THIS ADDENDUM MUST BE ENTERED IN THE APPROPRIATE SPACE PROVIDED ON
"GENERAL BID FORM.”
Answers to Bidder’s Questions
1. Question: Per Shure's website, the -G50 frequency band is no longer offered for Shure ULXD. The recommended replacement product is in the -G57 band.
Is this acceptable?
Answer: Yes
2. Question: Can it be confirmed that the (12) existing wireless microphone receivers installed in the rack are to be deinstalled.
Answer: Yes
3. Question: The QSP states that the scope is to add the (12) wireless gooseneck microphones. The provided BOM however lists a single channel ULXD wireless.
Please confirm the total channels of wireless being provided will be (13).
Answer: Yes, that is correct.
4. Question: Please confirm that the intent is to replace the existing Shure
UA844+SWB antenna distribution unit with a new Shure UA844+SWB/LC distribution unit (same as what is installed, less the premade antenna cables).
Answer: Yes, that is correct.
5. Question: Will antennas remain installed at the rack (located in the kitchen) or should the antennas be extended into the space where the microphones/transmitters will be used? Extending the antennas would require additional equipment and cabling.
Answer: Antennas will remain installed in the rack in the kitchen.
6. Question: Per Shure, the rechargeable battery for the ULXD wireless transmitters is the SB900C, not SB900B. Should this be swapped?
Answer: Yes, we want batteries compatible with the microphones being offered.
7. Question: The QSP calls out the SBC800-US 8-bay charger, x2, for charging the batteries. This charge requires batteries to be removed from the wireless transmitters/microphones, to then be put into the chargers. Please confirm this is the intent, as there are other chargers from Shure that allow the batteries to be installed while remaining installed in the wireless transmitters/microphones.
Answer: We prefer a solution that allows us to keep the batteries installed in the wireless microphones while being charged.
8. Question: There are (13) premade 6' XLR cables on the BOM. While the outputs of the wireless transmitters have XLR connectors, the inputs on the audio processor do not. Should we specify the premade cables, which will require the ends that connect into the DSP to be cut and wired to the DSP's
Phoenix connectors; or should we specify separate XLR connectors and bulk cabling, to be terminated and wired as required in the field.
o For clarification, the existing (12) channels of wireless microphone receivers are currently wired to the existing DSP. Is there an option to test/reuse the existing cabling for (12) of the new wireless microphone receivers?
Answer: We prefer to use/test existing cabling to reduce costs, however, if it is discovered that the connection is not sufficient for the new equipment, we can consider alternatives at that time.
