Addendum No. 4
Date: July 21, 2023
STATE OF MARYLAND
DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES
Atif Chaudhry, Secretary
Project No. B-450-210-001
This Addendum will clarify, add to, delete from, correct and/or change the bid documents for the project referenced above to the extent indicated. This Addendum is hereby made a part of the bid documents on which the contract will be based. By submitting a bid for this solicitation you acknowledge receipt of this addendum. All questions must be in writing and addressed to the
Procurement Officer.
This Addendum includes:
1. Please confirm that it is DGS’s intent for all electrical conduit to be directionally bored/drilled and that no trenching is permitted. Additionally, the electrical work shown on drawing E-100 south of Chase Road is outside of the Limit of Disturbance. Even if this conduit is installed via directional drilling, these areas will need to be accessed and soil disturbed in order to install the new conduit. Will the LOD be increased/modified to include these areas?
Response: The limit of disturbance for the electrical installation will be expanded with an MDE
Modification. Directional boring is only specifically required for the length of conduit run across Chase Road, but the Contractor may directionally bore the entire run as a Contractor option if so desired. The contractor shall disturb and open trench for all utilities the minimum practical area required to accomplish the work designated for each day. All work shall be backfilled and temporarily stabilized at the end of each working day.
2. The Demolition Plan, Drawing No. C-3, indicates the existing gravel areas to be removed. The gravel areas south of the new bollards will be replaced with the new asphalt pavement and parking area, but the Landscape Plan, L-2, does not indicate what replaces the gravel area to the north of the new bollards, adjacent to the new 6’ wide sidewalk. Is this area to be replaced or repaired in any manner? Is it DGS’s intent for this area to be topsoiled and seeded? Please advise.
Response: The area of gravel to the north of the new bollards and adjacent to the new 6’ wide sidewalk shall be permanently stabilized with sod per B-4-5 Standards and Specifications for
Permanent Stabilization, Part “B” (Sod) on sheet C-12. All disturbed areas within the LOD which are not scheduled for paving or concrete shall be permanently stabilized with sod.
