2.1. Replace Architectural sheets A050, A101, A150, A151, A152
3. BIDDERS QUESTIONS:
3.1. Question: Will Prevailing Wage be Required?
Answer: No prevailing wage is not required.
3.2. Question: Is the Project Tax Exempt?
Answer: No this project is not tax exempt.

3.3. Question: Wall baffles are shown at the height of 12ft, typically wall baffles go to bottom of overhead steel which would be 10ft. Can you confirm that 12ft is required for this project?
Answer: Yes, Wall baffles to extend to bottom of baffles at 10’ height.
3.4. Question: Drawings show an additional 6ft of wall baffle to span the width of the range on top of the granular bullet trap, with proper ballistic closure this additional wall baffle would not be necessary. Can you confirm that the extra 6ft is required for this project?
Answer: The additional 6ft of wall baffle spanning the range's width is unnecessary. There does need to be a piece of steel on the back side of the bullet trap for proper closure, as shown in the attached in revised detail in addendum #3.
3.5. Question: The Specs don’t mention “closure panels” between the baffle rows to aid in the airflow moving down range. Will closure panels be required for this job?
Answer: Closure panels are not required.
3.6. Question: Does the Target Holder have to hold a foam backer or is a plastic corrugated backer acceptable?
Answer: Holder to accommodate plastic corrugated backer.
3.7. Question: Can you clarify if the tip-n-roll bleacher are part of this bid? I see section: 126313 (Stadium and Arena Bench Seating), however, I don’t see them in drawings.
Answer: Refer to attached revised sheets A101 First Floor Plan and Detail 6/A152 for more information.
3.8. Question: Typically on Indoor Firing Range projects there are firing range ventilation system performance and airflow requirements included to ensure occupant safety and prevent the possible risk of overexposure to lead and other contaminates. For example, it is common for the range ventilation system or range ventilation contractor to guarantee airflow requirements per the NIOSH suggested design criteria of an average airflow velocity of 75FPM at the firing line - as this design criteria has consistently guaranteed exposure levels below OSHA allowable limits. Will this project have a similar performance criteria? If no, does the system performance then fall on the system DOR & not the contractor selected?
Answer: The system was designed to meet these requirements. It’s not a performance spec so these requirements weren’t listed.
3.9. Question: Typically on Indoor Firing Range projects there are firing line airflow requirements - at each firing position (1',3' & 5' or prone, kneeling, standing shooting positions) listed to be confirmed by airflow testing prior to project acceptance. Does this project have any firing line airflow requirements? Similar to the below example?
a. The owner will measure the air flow at each firing lane at 1’, 3’ and 5’ off the floor in each lane. Acceptable readings are 75fpm (+/-10%) over entire range, with no one reading under 50fpm. Smoke released at each lane shall move

Answer: The system was designed to meet these requirements. It’s not a performance spec, so these requirements weren’t listed.
3.10. Question: Is there any experience or qualification requirements for specifically the firing range ventilation contractor (supplier/installer) considering the special use and airflow needs of this space?
Answer: No additional requirements other than requirements called out for in the specifications.
3.11. Question: Please consider adding “#5. Target Systems”, to section 114860, sub-section 1.2 B.
Answer: Indoor Automated Turning Target System and Indoor Running Man Target System are included within Specification 114860 Shooting Range Equipment.
3.12. Question: Please specify the closest distance to the targets that the user with be shooting from?
Answer: Refer to sheet A800 for Distances. The firing lines are 2, 5, 7, 10, 15, 25 & 50 yards. 2-yards would be the closest distance.
3.13. Question: Note that for the level of munitions to be fired on this range, specified at 3600 fps, it is our experience that 2.5ft. of ballistic rubber granulate be installed on the steel bed plate.
This recommendation is the result of 39 years in the range design and development business and over 1 hundred of the granulate rubber traps installed.
Answer: The thickness of rubber, measured from the top of the steel bed plate to the top of the rubber material, is to be 2’-0”. This is sufficient to stop rifle calibers proposed for use in the range.
3.14. Question: Please clarify why the rubber granulate must be ground by the specific machines as specified in section 114860, Part 2, sub-section 2.1, B1a?
Answer: The rubber material must meet the stated specifications irrespective of the machines used to chop the rubber material.
3.15. Question: What is wall type 403? (not listed on the wall type page)
Answer: Wall types were mis-labelled on sheets, should have been noted as wall type 408. See attached revised sheets.
3.16. Question: What is wall type 906? (not listed on the wall type page)
Answer: Wall types were mis-labelled on sheets, should have been noted as wall type 926. See attached revised sheets.
3.17. Question: There is a sound panel spec but none shown on plans . Where are they?

201 W. Short Street • Suite 700 • Lexington, KY 40507 • 859.231.7538 • fax 859.255.4380 • www.eopa.com
Answer: Please refer to attached revised sheet Enlarged plan 1/A151 and Elevation 9/A151.
3.18. Question: Do you expect the bid date to stay on 4/25/23?
Answer: Yes we expect the bid date to remain 4/25/23.
3.19. Question: Action Target is indicating that it submitted its material for product approval.
Has this been received and a determination made?
Answer: We did receive Action Targets information and responded that we were not pre-approving manufacturer’s prior to bid. However if their product meets the requirements of the specifications we encouraged them to bid the project.
