CLARIFICATIONS AND RESPONSE(S) TO QUESTIONS
The following provides OPRD’s answers and clarifications to questions received from potential Bidders. The information provided below is for clarification purposes only and does NOT constitute a change to the solicitation documents or requirements.
1. QUESTION: Will contractors be allowed to camp at Beverly Beach during construction?
RESPONSE: No, the campground will be closed to all camping until park opening.
2. QUESTION: What is expected for surface cleaning in moss covered areas?
RESPONSE: The contractor is expected to make a good faith effort to mechanically remove organic materials prior to tack coat and paving. OPRD Project Manager will assess areas with excessive organic materials that can not be removed by mechanical means and direct contractor on how to proceed during construction.
| 3. QUESTION: Does OPRD expect the contractor to construct the inlay transition details 2/C4.1, | 3/C4.1 and 3/C4.2? |
| RESPONSE: The detail assumes existing asphalt is at sufficient depth to construct transitions per the contract plans. The detail requirement will not be required in areas with insufficient asphalt depths or brittle asphalt. Butt joint transitions will be required in areas where these specific details cannot be reasonable constructed. |
4. QUESTION: How will the base repairs in road restoration sections be measured?
RESPONSE: Road restoration areas are calculated on a square foot basis with a defined depth. Base repairs within road restoration areas will be calculated as a cubic foot volume below the defined road restoration depth.
5. QUESTION: What is required for density testing the base aggregate and asphalt concrete pavement
RESPONSE: All density testing will be furnished by the Contractor. The frequency of density testing shall be as required in section 02700 and as modified in addendum item #1.
6. QUESTION: Is there a specific pay item for manhole risers.
RESPONSE: Adjusting sanitary manholes and water valve boxes are incidental to the project. All materials needed to complete this work properly shall be incidental.
