About this file

This is Construction Bid Addendum No. 1 issued by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget's State Facilities Administration Design and Construction Division for the Rose Lake Wildlife Area Demolition of Select Structures project (File No. 751/19255.KSZ). The addendum, issued on July 26, 2019, provides updates for a bid opening date of July 31, 2019. The project involves demolition and disposal of several buildings including a field office, yellow barn, small and large Quonset huts, seed storage building, pheasant barn, and 1-car garage. The scope includes removal of hazardous materials, abandonment of 4 septic systems and water wells (600 linear feet), backfilling with 200 tons of MDOT Class II material, and site restoration.

The addendum includes clarifications regarding well abandonment requirements, concrete slab specifications, and septic system details. A pre-bid meeting was held on July 22, 2019 at the Rose Lake WLA Field Office located at 8562 E. Stoll Rd., East Lansing. The project includes an owner's allowance of $10,000. Two well logs from the Wellogic database are provided showing 260-foot deep Type II public wells installed in 1977. The DNR has already removed refrigerants from units at the field office, and repaving of damaged driveways/parking areas is not required. Drain field removal is not included in the septic system abandonment scope.

Q.1 Could we have copies off the drilling logs for the nearest water wells?

A.1 Well logs for the property from the State of Michigan website Wellogic are attached.

Q.2 There are numerous hidden pieces of debris, concrete, piping, etc. located on the Field Office property, between the main building and the pheasant coops. Are these expected to be removed and disposed of, including the fencing separating the coop area and the building?

A.2 Yes, all debris will need to be removed and disposed.

Q.3 Is MDOT roadside mix approved for final seeding?

A.3 Yes.

Q.4 The driveway and parking area around the Field Office is in pretty rough shape. Will it be necessary to repave the areas that are damaged by tractor/trains used for debris removal?

A.4 No.

Q.5 Can you delay the date for quote submittal another week? In order to submit a complete and accurate bid it is necessary for subcontractors to give us their prices?

A.5 No, bid due date remains.

Q.6 Does the septic tank removal include drain fields?

A.6 Drain fields removal and disposal not required.

Q.7 Can you confirm that all utilities are disconnected prior to on-site services by the contractor?

A.7 Yes.

Q.8 Pay Item 3 states that refrigerants are the contractors responsibility. However, I believe it was stated during the pre-bid mtg. that the DNR had taken care of this. True or not?
