About this file
This document is Addenda No. 2 for the Courthouse Exterior Door Replacement project issued by Culpeper County, Virginia. The addenda makes changes to the Invitation to Bid, including a preference for 3M film in the Juvenile Domestic Relation (JDR) Courtroom and revised drawings dated 9/11/24. It also provides answers to written questions received, addressing door sizes, hardware finishes, and molding types. The project involves the replacement of existing exterior doors for repairs and security enhancement, as well as other renovations, at the Culpeper County Courthouse.
The document indicates that the project requires field measuring existing frame openings to confirm replacement door sizes before ordering. It also notes that all new locksets are to be 26D - Satin Chromium plated over nickel finish, and that contractors may provide alternates with their bids for the molding types. A $7,500 setup charge is associated with each molding type, but the doors would still have a matching appearance per the elevations provided.

Addenda Culpeper County, Virginia
Courthouse Exterior Door Replacement Addenda Number: 2 Culpeper County IFB No.: BG-25-0301
DATE: 9/24/2024
The following are changes to Invitation To Bid Number BG-25-0301, and answers to written questions received for the Courthouse Exterior Door Replacement project:
A. Changes to the Invitation to Bid
1. Attachment A- 2.1 (3M Film) is preferred film that shall be installed in the Juvenile
Domestic Relation (JDR) Courtroom with clear impact resistant film in the non-ballistic doors with clear glass.
2. Attachment A- 2.2 (Revised Drawing, dated 9/11/24) Revised drawing set Revision #2, dated 09-11-24 is issued and replaces the entire drawing set.
B. Answers to Questions Received
1. Opening EX-6 image shows a single door, but reference Elevation D, which is a pair of doors. No size is provided for the door. What is the size for this opening?
Answer: Door EX-6 is a single door field measured as approximately 3’-0” X 6’- 8”. This work requires field measuring the existing frame opening to confirm exact replacement door size before ordering. Elevation ‘D’ on sheet A-A1.3 depicts the applied molding profile required for Door EX-6.
2. Opening EX-10 image shows a single door, but references Elevation D, which is a pair of doors. No size is provided for the door. What is the type size for this opening?
Answer: Door EX-10 which we field measured as a nominal 3’-0” X 7’-0” door, should reference Elevation ‘A’. This work requires field measuring the existing frame opening to confirm exact replacement door size before ordering. See Attachment A-3 (Revision #2 Drawings dated 09-11-24).
3. Will the hardware for the project be “Bright Brass” finish? If not, please provide the required finish for all doors. Some of the hardware sets are calling for stainless steel hinges, and some pictures show Satin Chrome hardware, but others show a dark (maybe brass), so I want to double check.
Answer: Refer to sheet A-A1.1, Section 08710 for Hardware. All new locksets to be 26D – Satin Chromium plated over nickel.
4. We have noted several different molding elevations on the plans. We have seen in contract with our custom door manufacturer, and they have asked if all moldings used could be changed to a single type and consistent on all the doors?
Answer: There are (3) custom molding types indicated. #1 and #2 are for door EX-5 which approximately matches the existing condition scale and profile of the Historic structure. Contractors are invited to provide alternates with their bid which might include providing Molding #1 for exterior Ex-5 and molding #2 for interior EX-5 and other ballistic doors. Due to the scale of EX-5, it will be difficult to use one molding for all doors.
5. There is a $7,500.00 – dollar setup charge associated with each molding type.
The doors would still have a matching appearance the elevations provided to us
Answer: This is not a question and seems to be provided for information.
6. Our manufacturer requires a certified installer, which we will contract for the installation of the door and frames.
Answer: This is not a question and seems to be provided for information.
