About this file

This is an Addendum 02 issued by Koch Covotsos Architects PC for the Capitol Garage Entrance project located at 5035 Oakland Street, Denver, Colorado, on behalf of the State of Colorado Capital Complex. The addendum addresses four key clarifications and modifications to the bidding documents for general contractors. The first clarification concerns the aluminum slip track at the curtainwall head, where the architect confirms that a ±½ inch slip head receptor is acceptable to address differential movement between the suspended upper curtainwall and the new curtainwall sitting on a slab-on-grade condition, as required by the plan reviewer and building inspector. The second modification permits the substitution of a composite door, such as an Architectural Doors Inc AD25 Aluminum Faced Door, in place of the specified hollow metal door at door 101, provided the door includes a narrow vision lite and can be properly integrated into the storefront frame. The third clarification revises the GL1 glass specification to 3/8-inch clear tempered and annealed glass tinted to match existing adjacent glass as shown on drawing A901, with insulated units being acceptable but not required. The fourth item requires installation of a Hirsch keypad/proximity card reader for the door.

No information regarding pricing terms, contract duration, award dates, set-asides, incumbent contractors, funding sources, or response deadlines is provided in this addendum document.

Addendum 02 Architect’s ADDENDUM Date of Issuance: 11-2-26 Owner Owner’s Rep Architect Contractor Consultant Field Project:

Capitol Garage Entrance

5035 Oakland Street Denver, CO 802

Description:

From Architect:

Koch Covotsos Architects PC 1499 Blake St, #3L Denver, CO 80202

To Bidding Contractors:

Owner:

State of Colorado Capital Complex

1. Question Detail 4/A701 calls for an aluminum slip track at the head. This is typically not needed since the curtain wall system has movement capabilities. Also, it would be difficult for us to install the head cap. We should probably exclude the track?

a. The upper curtainwall is suspended on the precast structure and double tees above and the new curtainwall is sitting on a slab on grade condition. These differential structural systems are likely to move differently with changes in live loads. This issue was raised by the plan reviewer/ building inspector and he will be looking for a head receptor with slip movement. We suggest a +/- ½” slip head receptor would be acceptable. The GC is permitted to submit an alternate detail so long as the finished face of the exterior is anodized aluminum and not exposed sealant.

2. Door schedule calls for the door to be hollow metal. This would cause an excess load on our storefront. Can we plan to provide an FRP door with narrow lite at this condition? It calls for a HM door for door 101 with a narrow vision light. We cannot install a HM door into a storefront frame.

Do they want a full lite aluminum storefront door here or a cross rail in the door or we can do and FRP door as well.

a. A composite door is acceptable with a narrow lite similar to the Architectural Doors Inc AD25 Aluminum Faced Dopor

3. It calls for GL1 for the glass type. 3/8” clear tempered and annealed glass back painted to match existing. Do they only want monolithic glazing here with back painted spandrel or do they want an insulated unit.

a. The spec for the GL1 shall be revised to a 3/8” clear tempered and annealed glass, tinted to match the existing adjacent glass as shown on A901. Insulated units are not required at this non-thermal condition, but they are acceptable if they match the nearby glass, and protect the tinted coating.

4. For the door, provide a Hirsch keypad/ proximity card reader.
