About this file
This document contains load limit restrictions for vehicles traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Gross vehicle weight restrictions are provided for single unit vehicles ranging from 2 to 4 or more axles, as well as combination unit vehicles with 3 to 5 or more axles. Vehicles must not exceed speeds of 40 mph for single units or 25 mph for vehicles on bridges, and a minimum spacing of 500 feet between loaded hauling vehicles is required. For overweight or oversized loads, haulers must submit vehicle details and special permits, times or traffic control may be required. All damage to the roadway must be repaired at no cost to the government.
The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 140P5323R0050 from the Department of the Interior National Park Service Southeast Region for the removal of vegetation, bridges and tunnels on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Haulers are directed to follow the load limit restrictions provided in the first document when performing work under this contract.
