About this file

This document appears to be a set of site documentation and engineering photos for a bridge replacement project, focusing on the Sheep Bridge site. The images detail existing conditions, proposed modifications, and environmental restoration plans for a bridge crossing a creek. Key details include:

The project involves replacing an existing 50-foot bridge with an 80-foot prefabricated steel underhung truss bridge. Significant environmental restoration is planned, including removing existing infrastructure like earthen fill material, crib logs, gabion wire, and concrete/rebar on both north and south sides of the creek. The new bridge design aims to improve stream flow dynamics by placing abutments above the Ordinary High Water Mark (OHWM) and reshaping streambanks to match natural channel and floodplain dimensions. The site documentation includes multiple perspectives of the existing bridge, trail approaches, and detailed annotations highlighting areas of proposed removal and reconstruction.

Flow is from left to right. Photo date: 6/16/2021

Earthen fill material, crib logs, & gabion wire to be removed.

Elevated boardwalk on south side.

Concrete and rebar to be removed on north side of creek.

Existing bridge looking upstream. Span = ~50 ft.

Darker lumber is elevated boardwalk on south approach.

Existing bridge looking south: River right to river left.

North existing abutment slightly above OHWM

Existing bridge looking downstream.

South side existing bridge abutment (river left): At/near OHWM.

OHWM influenced by woody debris caught under bridge.

Elevated boardwalk and gabion on south trail approach

OHWM

OHWM is influenced by undersized bridge. Bridge span will be increased from 50 to 80 feet and elevated to increase capacity. New abutment will be placed above OHWM.

With the enlarged new bridge, the streambanks will be reshaped to match the natural channel/floodplain dimensions immediately up and downstream.

Elevated boardwalk and gabions on south trail approach
