This Project aims to replace six total sets of double doors (12 doors total), comprising three public entrances, with durable, modern, and secure systems that improve functionality, meet

ADA compliance standards, reduce operational costs and downtime, and incorporate bird-safe features to reduce bird strikes. Replacement doors shall be of similar type, configuration, and appearance to the existing doors to maintain continuity with the current architectural and functional layout, unless otherwise directed by the COR.

1.2 The Contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, materials, equipment and services required to remove and replace existing doors in the Visitor Center.

• Removal and lawful disposal of existing door units, hardware, frames, closers, and associated sealants and thresholds.

• Installation of new aluminum framed, thermally broken double doors with insulated glazing units (IGUs), low-e coated bird-safe fritted safety glass, weather striped and fully gasketed.

• Doors must comply with ANSI A117.1 (ADA accessibility), ASTM E283 (air leakage), ASTM

E330 (structure loading), and ASTM E1886/E1996 (impact resistance, where applicable.)

Alternative dogging methods may only be used if pre-approved by the COR and must maintain full code-compliant egress function under IBC and NFPA 101.

• Contractor shall assess and reconfigure existing automatic door opener push button locations to ensure alignment with the actual door leaf being actuated. All ADA controls shall be installed on the correct side of the door, no more than 5 feet from the door edge, and meet ANSI A117.1 and ADAAG section 404.3 requirements for operable parts, clear floor space, and reach

New decals shall match original size, color, and placement unless otherwise directed by the COR.

• Contractor shall coordinate with the COR to ensure all lock hardware is compatible with

Mammoth Cave National Park’s existing Marshall Best Security (MBS) lock and keying system using interchangeable core cylinders keyed to Park’s standards. Cores may be provided by the

Park and installed by Contractor as directed.
