About this file

This document is a USDA Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region fire protection and suppression communication requirement for contractors. Specifically, Section 12 mandates that contractors must provide adequate two-way communication facilities capable of reporting a fire to the Forest Service within 15 minutes of detection. The communication system must be operable during all periods of power-driven equipment operation and during fire security times. Citizen Band (CB) radios are explicitly prohibited, as FCC regulations prevent their commercial use, and they are not considered acceptable two-way communication methods.
