About this file
This document is a map detailing regulations and safety information for recreational users of a section of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The map covers the river stretch between Riverside Landing and Sand Creek Landing, noting landmarks, campsites, access points, and hazards along the way. Boating and paddling regulations specify slow speed limits near other watercraft, swimmers, launch sites, and anchored vessels. Camping is restricted to designated sites on a first-come basis with a three-night limit. Fishing regulations and prohibitions on collecting live mussels or artifacts are also outlined. Additional safety tips address river conditions, ability levels, submerged hazards, sun and tick protection, glass containers, and protective footwear.

Riverside Landing to Sand Creek Landing
St. Croix River Map 5:
A top aquatic predator, the muskie is also the “king” of fish for many anglers. It hides in the darkness, darting out with sharp teeth to eat most anything, including ducklings.

In This Stretch
• Keep right of the islands a few miles downriver from Riverside Landing. The river becomes the border of the two states (Minnesota - Wisconsin) just past these islands.
• The river slows then, and paddling is easy for the next 10 miles.
• Large groups of people on tubes may be encountered upstream of the Highway 48/77 bridge. Stay to the left at the rock ledge.
• Continue staying left as Thayers Landing is located immediately downstream of the bridge.
• The main landing for St. Croix State Park, Minnesota, is located behind an island on the right side of the river. Don’t miss it!
