About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details the rehabilitation of the Fellers' House exterior at Canaveral National Seashore in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The project involves removing approximately 1,100 square feet of existing asbestos-containing and vinyl siding, along with associated soffit and fascia, and replacing them with new fiber cement materials. Specific requirements include installing James Hardie HardiePlank Lap Siding with a smooth finish, using stainless steel fasteners, and ensuring the new installation meets ASTM standards for exterior applications.

The project is scheduled to start in September 2025 with an estimated duration of 10 days. Key technical specifications mandate that the new siding be non-combustible, factory-primed, termite-resistant, FEMA Class 5 rated, water-resistant, and come with a 30-year warranty. A bid option for gutter installation is also included. The contractor must comply with OSHA safety standards, EPA asbestos abatement regulations, and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials. The work must be performed by licensed asbestos abatement professionals and completed in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local building codes.
