About this file
This document is a project site assessment file for herbicide treatment at the Big Sandy Creek Unit of Big Thicket National Preserve near Dallardsville, Texas (coordinates 30.639012, -94.662751). The document contains 18 georeferenced photographs with accompanying data collected on February 2, 2026, documenting target species canopy coverage, treatment history, and acreage for each surveyed area within the 374.3-acre project site.
The assessment identifies areas with varying levels of target species infestation ranging from 5% to 95% canopy cover. Most areas have received prior treatments including mulching (conducted 2018-2024), burning (conducted 2021-2025), and spraying (conducted 2024-2025). Areas with low residual target coverage (5-10%) following previous treatments are designated for retreatment expected to achieve near 100% removal. High-coverage areas (80-95%) require initial or intensive treatment. Three buffer zones are specified along fence lines bordering private property: two 80-foot fire break/buffer zones (Photos 12 and 17) and one 50-foot fire break/buffer zone (Photo 18), all requiring treatment up to but not crossing the fence line. The documented acreages across individual photo locations total approximately 374.3 acres, with some areas consisting of multiple non-contiguous sections requiring treatment.
