The log cabins located at Price Park B545, Crabtree Falls B832, and Mt. Pisgah Campgrounds B828 on the Blue Ridge Parkway have experienced progressive weathering, deteriorated chinking, and fading of protective wood stain due to prolonged environmental exposure. These cabins are vital assets to the housing program at BLRI and are a huge asset to being able to hire seasonal employees that care for our campgrounds and thousands of visitors. This project aims to restore the cabins' weather resistance and aesthetics through the complete removal and replacement of failed chinking and the application of an approved semi-transparent stain to all log and siding surfaces.

Execution details are provided under Phase 3 – Staining.

· Cabin 1 – Price Park Campground B545:

· Remove deteriorated chinking and install new synthetic chinking: 622 linear feet

· Power wash, prep, and stain logs/siding: 1,010 square feet

· Power wash, prep, and stain logs/siding: 1,005 square feet

· Cabin 3 – Mt. Pisgah Campground B828:

· Remove deteriorated chinking and install new synthetic chinking: 627 linear feet

· Power wash, prep, and stain logs/siding: 1,017 square feet Work shall comply with National Park Service conservation standards and Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. Chinking shall be a compatible synthetic system (e.g., Sashco Log Jam or approved equal) matching original appearance and texture. Stain shall be breathable, low-VOC, semi-transparent log stain (e.g., Perma-Chink Ultra-2 or equivalent) in a park-approved color.
