About this file

This is a Work Write-Up document prepared by the City of Jackson Community Development Department for roof and gutter repairs at 827 Bush Street in Jackson, Michigan. The scope of work includes stripping and installing a new roof on both the home and garage (approximately 20 squares total), installing new architectural shingles with ice shield protection, installing 7/16" oriented-strand board sheathing where necessary, reflashing chimneys and vents, installing ridge venting, and trimming trees back approximately 10 feet from the roof. The project also includes replacing approximately 160 linear feet of gutters using 5-inch K-type aluminum with a maximum hanger spacing of 30 inches and installing approximately 80 linear feet of downspouts in commercial size. The owner currently has gutter guards that will be reinstalled after new gutters are installed. A permit is required for this project. The document was prepared on August 3, 2026, by sharrison@cityofjackson.org and is designated as Exhibit 1.

The work write-up requires both the owner and contractor to sign the document only if it becomes part of a final construction contract and both parties have reviewed and agreed to the work and pricing. The contractor is responsible for final measurements, and all work must comply with Michigan Building Code standards and manufacturer's instructions. The document notes that the home was previously stripped years ago with only one existing layer of roofing, eliminating the need for new decking at this time. The project is part of the City of Jackson's Community Development Department program for qualified homeowners, with awards granted to the qualified lowest bidder. All bidders must have completed Sam.gov registration, proper licensing, and obtain required permits prior to work commencement.
