About this file
This document is a Launch Service Interface Requirements Document (LSIRD) sample template for CubeSat launch services under the Venture-Class Acquisition of Dedicated and Rideshare (VADR) Launch Services solicitation issued by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Kennedy Space Center. The template provides an example of spacecraft requirements that may be included in a request for launch services, such as dimensions, mass properties, temperature and humidity processing requirements, random vibration environments, required orbit, and power and operation requirements after deployment. It defines spacecraft and CubeSat dispenser hardware interface and integration requirements to ensure technical compatibility and mission success.

Launch Service Interface Requirements Document (LSIRD)
Sample Template for
VADR Streamlined CubeSat Launch Services CLIN 2
Document Purpose
This document defines the [MISSION] to Launch Service Provider and CubeSat dispenser interface/integration requirements and constraints necessary to assure technical compatibility and to contribute to mission success.
Document Objectives
1. To define the [MISSION] Spacecraft(s) (SC) and CubeSat dispenser hardware to
Launch Service Contractor and CubeSat dispenser integration and interface requirements
2. To identify facility and mission operations support requirements
Introduction and Scope
Provides a brief description of the Spacecraft (SC) and its mission. Includes the following items at a minimum:
Spacecraft readiness dates and required launch and/or orbital injection date
Payload(s) and/or instrument(s) description
Picture/drawing of SC in launch configuration after separation, and after release of deployables.
SC Figures
1. STRUCTURES AND HARDWARE
A. SC TERFACE/SEPARATION SYSTEM
Provides a description of the dispenser requirements and images detailing the SC dimensions.
2. STIFFNESS (SC FREQUENCY)
This section states the minimum fundamental frequency, separation, and isolation requirements.
3. SC PROPERTIES
Table 1 - SC Mass Properties
CubeSat Size
SC predicted flight mass (kg)
SC Maximum predicted flight mass (kg)
Dispenser Type
SC Width (mm) from Rail-to-Rail (or Tab to tab) in X and Y direction
SC Height (mm) from Dispenser -Z Feet/Contact Plane to +Z
If required: Maximum Diameter and height of the “Tuna
Can” Cylindrical protrusions on the -Z end?
Maximum protrusions beyond the plane of the rails (or tabs) in the X and Y Directions
SC Figures
Miscellaneous (i.e description of deployables)
4. ENVIROMENTS
A. GROUND OPERATIONS TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY
Providers payload processing facility requirements including, but not limited to, humidity, temperature, and cleanliness requirements.
B. DYNAMIC ENVIRONMENTS
I. RANDOM VIBRATION ENVIRONMENT
5. ADDITIONAL AND/OR UNIQUE MISSION CHARACTERISTICS
6. ORBIT
A. ORBIT INSERTION REQUIREMENTS
Provides offeror with the required orbit, SC power and operation requirements after deployment
7. FCC Consulting Services
If required, include detail of the SC requirements for FCC consulting services including the number of uplink and downlink frequencies requiring licensing.
