E1.0 INTRODUCTION
E1.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The purpose of this Interface Control Document (ICD) is to define and control the implementation of the physical and functional interfaces between Pressurized Mating Adapter (PMA) 3 and Node 3. Part 1 of this ICD contains the design requirements for this interface; Part 2 contains the design solutions for those requirements.
The scope of this section of the document is limited to the physical and functional interfaces between PMA 3 and Node 3. All other PMA interfaces with pressurized elements that occur during build up of the Space Station are documented in individual appendices of this ICD as noted below.
See Core for PMA 2 to Node 2 interface definition.
See Appendix B for PMA 2 to USL interface definition.
See Appendix C for PMA 2 to Node 1 interface definition.
See Appendix D for PMA−3 to Node 1 interface definition.
E1.2 PRECEDENCE
This ICD is prepared in response to the bilateral interface requirements established in SSP 42097, PMA 2 and 3 to Pressurized Elements Part I ICD. In the event of a conflict between this document and SSP 42097, the Part I ICD will take precedence.
E1.3 RESPONSIBILITY AND CHANGE AUTHORITY
The responsibility for assuring the definition, control, and implementation of the interfaces identified in this document is vested with the NASA ISS Program Office. This document will be formally approved and controlled in accordance with the provisions of document SSP 30459, Space Station Interface Control Plan.
E2 - 1
E2.0 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
The documents in this paragraph are applicable to the extent specified herein. Inclusion of applicable documents herein does not in any way supersede the order of precedence identified in paragraph E1.2. The references show where each applicable document is cited in this document.

E3.0 INTERFACE DEFINITION
E3.1 GENERAL
Unless otherwise noted, none of the drawings contained in this ICD are to scale.
E3.1.1 INTERFACE DESCRIPTION
The interface description here applies to the PMA−3 / Node 3 interface.
The PMA−3 to Node 3 mated on−orbit configuration is shown in Figure E3.1.1−1, PMA−3 to Node 3 On−Orbit Configuration.
The only utility interfaces used between Node 3 and PMA−3 are for intermodule ventilation, secondary power (P602/J106), and instrumentation (P601/J103). All other interfaces described in this ICD are scarred and not connected.
The element to element structural and mechanical interface is between the Common Berthing Mechanism (CBM) halves as shown in Figure E3.1.1−2, PMA−3/Node 3 Interface Planes. The external utility interface plane is between the connector plug on the end of the jumper from PMA−3 and the receptacle located on Node 3 as shown in Figure E3.1.1−2. The internal utility interface plane for Intermodule Ventilation (IMV), O2/N2 and fuel cell water is at the Node 3 bulkhead where the PMA attaches as shown in Figure E3.1.1−2.

The coordinate systems used in defining the interfaces contained herein are consistent with SSP 30219, Space Station Reference Coordinate Systems.
E3.2 STRUCTURAL/MECHANICAL INTERFACES
E3.2.1 COMMON BERTHING MECHANISM INTERFACES
PMA−3 and Node 3 are attached structurally/mechanically using an active and passive CBM in accordance with the requirements and design criteria shown in SSP 41148, ACBM to PCBM ICD. The active common berthing mechanism is located on the Node 3 side of the interface and is attached to the Node 3 pressure shell in accordance with SSP 41004, Common Berthing Mechanism to Pressurized Element ICD.
The Active Common Berthing Mechanism (ACBM) electrical connector reference designators and bulkhead feedthrough locations are defined in Table E3.2.1−1, Node 3 Port Bulkhead ACBM Connector Locations. The power and data for the ACBM do not cross the PMA−3/Node 3 interface. The passive common berthing mechanism is located on the PMA−3 side of the interface and is attached to PMA−3 in accordance with SSP 41004.

E3.2.3 CBM SHIELDING CLEARANCE
Meteoroid debris shielding is structurally attached to the endcone secondary structure of the Node 3 and extends over the CBM mating plane. Shielding attached to the PMA−3 outer shell overlaps the Node 3 shielding in order to meet Probability of No Penetration requirements as shown in Figure E3.2.3−1, Meteoroid Debris Shield Clearance.
The Node 3 Endcone Meteroid Debris Shielding has externally mounted secondary structure brackets that are not used. Envelopes of these are shown in Figure E3.2.3−2, Node 3 Endcone Shield Bracket Location and Figure E3.2.3−3, Node 3 Endcone Sheild Bracket Envelope.
E3.3 INTERNAL UTILITY INTERFACES
E3.3.1 INTERMODULE VENTILATION
The flex duct transferring IMV air between PMA−3 and Node 3 has a V−Band interface flange on the end of the duct that is structurally attached to the Node 3 bulkhead Forward IMV feedthru flange. These are attached using a V−Band coupling (MS27115−21R) provided at the Node 3 bulkhead. The V−Band coupling that is originally used to secure the IMV port cap is reused to make this duct connection after the cap is removed.
The flex duct located in PMA−3 is shown in Figure E3.3.1−1, PMA−3 IMV Flex Duct. The PMA IMV duct flange detail is shown in Figure E3.3.1−2, PMA IMV Jumper Duct Flange Cross Section. When the PMA flexible duct connects to the Node 3 bulkhead IMV feedthru, it connects to an integral bulkhead V−Band flange as shown in Figure E3.3.1−3, Node 3 Integral Bulkhead Feedthru Flange Cross Section. The attached V−Band flange and coupling is shown in Figure E3.3.1−4, IMV V−Band Flange Interface Detail.
IMV air is transferred from the PMA to Node 3 through the flex duct described above. Air is returned to the PMA through the open hatch.
E3.3.2 OXYGEN / NITROGEN RECHARGE
The O2/N2 interface is not active. The scar attachment location is shown in Figure E3.3.2−1, Utility Penetration Layout of NODE 3 Port Bulkhead. The interface detail is shown in Figure E3.3.2−3, Bulkhead Connector Detail and Table E3.3.2−1, Fluid Interface Detail.

E3.4 ELECTRICAL INTERFACES
E3.4.1 ELECTRICAL CONNECTIVITY
The electrical interface used between Node 3 and PMA−3 includes power and instrumentation.
1553 data and video are scarred.
E3.4.1.1 DETAILED ELECTRICAL INTERFACE
Control of the detailed electrical interface consists of identifying the particular plug/adapter/receptacle configuration, location, part number and functionality. Each connector is assigned a reference designation that identifies its location.
The assigned reference designations and centerline location for the utility connectors at the PMA−3 to Node 3 interface is shown in Figure E3.2.2−1. The utility function for each assigned reference designation is shown in Table E3.4.1.1−1, PMA−3/Node 3 Utility Detail and Centerline Location.
There are two PMA−3 harnesses that are not functional at this interface, they attach to dummy connectors located on Node 3.
The assigned reference designations for the feedthrough connectors attached to the Node 3 bulkhead that do not interface with PMA−3, are shown in Figure E3.3.2−1, Utility Penetration Layout of Node 3 Port Bulkhead Looking Toward the PMA−3.
The utility function and centerline location for each assigned reference designation for the feedthrough connectors that do not interface with PMA−3 is shown in Table E3.4.1.1−2, Node 3 Port Bulkhead Electrical Connector Locations.
