About this file
This document is an Affidavit Regarding the Use of Companies Owned or Controlled by a Foreign Country of Concern for the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, specifically related to a Commercial Kitchen Refrigeration Maintenance & Installation Services bid (#26-0112). The affidavit requires vendors to certify that they are not owned or controlled by specified foreign countries of concern, including China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, or Syria.
The affidavit mandates that vendors provide a signed statement under penalty of perjury confirming: they are not owned by the government of a foreign country of concern, do not have a foreign government with controlling interest, and are not organized under the laws of or have their principal place of business in a foreign country of concern. This requirement stems from Section 287.138 of Florida Statutes, which prohibits governmental entities from entering contracts with companies owned or controlled by the listed foreign countries. The document provides a template for vendors to complete, including spaces for vendor information, authorized representative details, and a notarization section.
