• How high up does the lead need to be?

• Size of the lead laminated drywall?

2.1 SOURCE LIMITATIONS

A. Obtain each type of radiation protection product from single source from single manufacturer.

2.2 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

A. Provide materials and workmanship, including joints and fasteners, that maintain continuity of

Reference Specification Section 134900 Radiation Protection. This section describes Lead Lined Drywall products that are specifically designed for radiation shielding in health care facilities. Section 134900 has been revised. Paragraph 2.2.B has been deleted since this owner specialist and report do not exist.

radiation protection at all points and in all directions equivalent to materials specified in thicknesses and locations indicated.

C. Lead-Lined Assemblies: Unless otherwise indicated, provide lead thickness in lead-lined assemblies of not less than lead thickness indicated for assemblies in which they are installed.

2.3 L EAD-LINED GYPSUM BOARD

A. 5/8-inch-thick gypsum board complying with Section 092900 "Gypsum Board," of width and length required for support spacing and to prevent cracking during handling, and with a single sheet of lead laminated to the back of the board.

1. Manufacturers and Products:

a. Mars Metal Group Inc.: Marshield Lead Lined Drywall.

b. RPP Radiation Protection Products Inc.: Lead Lined Gypsum Drywall.

c. Pitts Little Radiation Shielding: Lead Lined Drywall.

2. Lead Sheet Lining: Full width and length of board.

Extend lead sheet lining 1 inch beyond one vertical edge of board.

3. Furnish 2-inch-wide lead strips for backing joints.

4. Furnish finishing materials, accessories, and trim for lead-lined gypsum board complying with Section 092900 "Gypsum Board."

Is this lead in the walls already or does this need to be added per the drawings? From the site visit and from the pictures we took from that day, the walls are constructed and looked to be almost finished. Please advise if the walls that are indicated on the drawings need to be lead lined.

Vestibule Rm 130 on A111 has some sort of shelving on the west wall, but I could not find an elevation for this item. Please provide.

These are tall 15” wide X 12” deep X 84” high plastic laminate cabinets with adjustable shelving and a full height door. Construction shall be similar to plastic laminate casework shown on Sheets A402 and A411.

Provide toe kick 3” deep X 3 1/2” high. Reference Specification Section 064116. They sit on the floor

What is the existing slab thickness? The building is not slab on grade. It is modular on a foundation with a crawl space accessible through two trap doors in the floor. The landings at the bottom of the trap door ladders are 20x20 concrete pads (images 3275, 3276). The floor is supported by piers (images 3273, 3274). The thickness of these slabs is shown to be 4” thick on the original building plans, but ‘as built’ may vary depending on location

51 Can a detail be provided for plumbing trench pour backs in the existing slab?

Plumbing trenching not required. All plumbing redesign is in crawlspace below floor.

Sheet S100 shows us to “remove existing gypsum board and increase nailing to 3” edge spacing.” The demo of this gyp is not shown on the demo sheet A071, and it looks like this wall is outside of our Area of Work per A005. Does this note apply to this project? If so, please provide more information on the purpose for this note, the height extent of this work, what these rooms are (office, exam room, etc.), what the finish will be on the new gyp walls, etc.

The purpose of this note is that we are removing a portion of the wall to open up the pharmacy. In the previous modification plans, this wall was designated a shear wall with 6” edge nailing. The additional nailing is required to add shear capacity to the remaining wall to account for removed portion.

3/P211 shows the waste line in room 108 connecting on the other side of the wall, in a corridor that is not in the area of work. Please provide information to the existing floor in the hallway that we will need to match and replace.

Floor will not need to be replaced. All plumbing work to be performed in crawlspace below floor.

Can you clarify if the air and vacuum lines going to the dental chairs on P111/P211 are to be run under the slab, or overhead?

All air and vacuum lines shall be run under the floor in the crawlspace where they are currently run.

096513-2.2.D says the rubber base color will either match existing, or will be selected from manufacturer’ full range. Do you know if we will be matching or picking a new color?

Matching to existing

56 What is the existing floor material that we are demoing in this building?

Carpet and VCT

Since we are just relocating fire sprinkler heads for this project, can the delegated-design and submittals (211313-1.2.C) be removed from the SOW?

A delegated-design and submittal is not required. It will be removed from the required submittal list after award.

58 What payment method will be used? Payments will be made through ipp.gov.

59 Is the contractor responsible for pharmacy and lobby furniture?

No, the SOW section A.2 has been revised to remove “new furniture”

60 Can you provide blue prints of all measurements? Blue prints of all measurements cannot be provided.

In the specs, highlighted below indicates the CxA will be through the government under a separate contract, but on the Q&A’s, it indicates that the general contractor needs to carry the CxA. Please confirm if the CxA will be under the government or under the GC.

The GC will carry the CxA

Door 104 is an aluminum sliding door, but the Hardware Group 3 assigned to it is for a swing door.

Please clarify.

This will be a sliding door - hardware for this door should match

The mortice locks in the door hardware spec list an 8200 series CRMG MK, which we were unable to find.

Can a new mortice lock model number be provided?

Reference Specification Section 087100. Paragraph 3.2.A reads, in part: “The door hardware sets represent the design intent and direction of the Government. They are a guideline only and should not be considered a detailed hardware schedule. Discrepancies, conflicting hardware and missing items should be brought to the attention of the Government with corrections made prior to the bidding process.” Contractor shall propose an equal alternate that most closely matches existing mortise locksets on the project.
