The solicitation requires the biosafety cabinets to meet NSF/ANSI 49 requirements and includes delivery, installation, and NSF/ANSI certification. Could you please clarify whether the proposed biosafety cabinets are required to be manufacturer-certified to NSF/ANSI 49 at the time of delivery, or whether field certification following installation is sufficient to meet this requirement?
We only require delivery of the biosafety cabinets,no installation. The requirement is for the biosafety cabinets to be manufacture-certified at the time of delivery. All cabinets will be tested by the program office on arrival
Section 6
Answered
The solicitation specifies that the units shall be constructed from 16 or 18-gauge Type 304 stainless steel, forming a monolithic, sealed structure. If a proposed biosafety cabinet has a Type 316 stainless steel work surface, while the remainder of the cabinet is constructed from Type 304 stainless steel, would this configuration be considered acceptable, or is Type 304 stainless steel required for all stainless steel components?
The configuration with Type 316 steel is also acceptable.
