Dockside Repairs of USCGC WAESCHE (WMSL 751)
Request for Clarifications Amendment #4
QUESTION #1: - This is in reference to Work Item D-014 - Paragraph 3.1.2.1 Folding Boom Cranes, Biennial Maintenance, Perform
Paragraph 3.1.2.1 of the work specification directs contractor to provide the services of a qualified Tech
Rep who is familiar with Appleton Model FB90-28 and to Provide Tech Support to renew luffing cylinder.
The Appleton Marine Tech Rep is questioning the renewal of the luffing cylinder and if this is an accidental spec carryover from another vessel?
Is the renewal of the luff cylinder required onboard the CGC Waesche?
If the luff cylinder renewal is required, this will dictate the service cost and duration required of the
Appleton Marine Tech. Rep.
RESPONSE #1:
Renewal of the luffing cylinder is not required for this availability. Please disregard the bullet of text under Paragraph 3.1.2.1 requiring tech support to renew the luffing cylinder.
QUESTION #2: - This is in reference to Work Item
Paragraph 3.3 of the work specification directs contractor to provide the services of Portable Sanitation
Units to include toilets, sinks, and showers for the duration of multiple work items listed within the specification.
The contractor has reached out to numerous vendors with all the same response. Due to COVID-19 response all Portable Sanitation Units are in high demand, and no units are available during the period of performance.
Contractor is requesting the permission to price in Porta-potties with hand wash stations excluding showers with CG personal utilizing shower facilities on base in lieu of Portable Sanitation Units to include toilets, sinks, and showers as per paragraph 3.3.
RESPONSE #2:
Independent government research for the availability of portable sanitation units during this period of performance shows 3 companies in the San Francisco / Bay Area that are available to provide portable sanitation units as required by the contract for the period of performance.
1. Royal Restrooms
2. NorCal Portable Services
3. Mesa Waste Services
