About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document related to Work Item 25 for the USCGC JOSEPH NAPIER dry dock repairs. The Q&A clarifies that there is only one Condition Inspection Report (CIR) requirement associated with Work Item 25, specifically for the endoscopic examination of cylinder liner conditions as detailed in MA15071. The document notes that while there is only one CIR requirement, there are also CFR (Contractor Furnished Report) requirements for the engine overhaul work item.

Text version
Work Item 25 Q: In section 3.1.1, it mentions “Contractor must submit CIR for the inspections listed in the following paragraphs.” When you get to section 3.3, there is only one CIR explicitly called out in bullet point 8, “Inspect each cylinder chamber on both engines and submit CIR detailing the condition of each using the terms listed for endoscopic examination.”
From reading MA15071, is the endoscopic examination for the cylinder liner condition only? Is this the only CIR requirement for the engine overhaul work item?
A: There is only one CIR associated with WI 25, however, be aware that there are also CFR’s. Additionally, the endoscopic examination is just for the cylinder liner condition as indicated in MA15071.
