About this file
This is a Heat Protection Safety Requirement Guidance document for Harris County Precinct 1, Texas, related to the Water Line Rehabilitation project at Deussen Park. The document establishes mandatory safety requirements that all prime contractors and vendors must incorporate into their project Safety Plan to protect workers from weather-related hazards, including extreme heat, cold weather, and other adverse conditions. At minimum, the Safety Plan must include provisions to prevent heat-related and cold-related illnesses among workers throughout project execution. When temperatures or heat index values exceed 90 degrees, contractors must implement a project-specific Heat Awareness Plan that includes acclimatization measures, water provision, adequate rest periods, and shaded areas for workers. During extended periods of adverse weather, the Prime Contractor is required to provide accommodations as deemed necessary for worker safety and welfare.
By executing the Bid Acknowledgement upon submission, all vendors and contractors acknowledge their understanding of and agreement to comply with these heat protection safety requirements as a condition of their bid participation. This requirement is non-negotiable and applies uniformly to all bidders on the Water Line Rehabilitation project.
