About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document issued on June 10, 2026, addressing inquiries from prospective contractors regarding a drilling project at Yosemite National Park related to disaster supplemental work.
The document addresses two primary questions from potential bidders. First, regarding borehole location coordinates and routing logistics, the government clarified that .kmz files containing borehole location data will be posted to SAM.gov, with all drilling routes located within Yosemite National Park with access points similar to state highway access. The government acknowledged the contractor's interest in optimizing the drilling sequence (borehole 1, 2, 3, etc.) for cost efficiency. Second, concerning traffic control requirements, the government confirmed that traffic control does not require California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) approval, allowing contractors to use their own technicians for traffic control in this low-traffic-speed area rather than requiring specialized certified traffic control personnel.

Questions and Answers during Advertisement for Drilling CA NP YOSE MULTI(1) Yosemite NP Disaster
Supplemental June 10, 2026
Questions Answers 1 Please provide coordinates of the borehole locations or a map. We need to arrange a drive route . its not easy to maneuver drill rig around on narrow streets.
Foe efficient cost, see if you can sync the route of work; like start at borehole 1 then 2 then 3, etc.thanks
The .kmz files will be posted to SAM.gov. The routes that we plan to drill are all located in Yosemite National Park with access points similar to a state highway.
2 Does the traffic control have to be Caltrans approved?
We are planning to propose to use our technicians for the traffic control; less cost and the area is not difficult (traffic speed is not high).
No, traffic control does not require Caltrans approval.
