CA FTNP YOSE 14(7) REPAIRS ON WAWONA ROAD

July 22, 2020

Questions Answers 1 For rock dowels, can galvanized be used in lieu of epoxy coatings for the material?

For bars included under the rock dowels pay item 26002-0000, as per Subsection 722.03(g) Furnish steel with either fusion bonded epoxy coating or hot dip galvanizing for corrosion protection. Subsection 651.07 will be revised via an amendment to also allow fusion bonded epoxy coating or hot dip galvanizing for the mesh anchors included under pay item 65101-1000.

2 Does the bar need to be coated? The only note says to paint the bar afterwards, nothing about the bar itself prior.

See response to question 1 for bar corrosion protection requirements.

As per plan sheet G3, note 4: Nuts, washer, bearing plates and other exposed hardware shall be epoxy coated and painted brown as approved by the CO.
