CA FTNP YOSE 14(7)
Repairs on Wawona Road centered in holes a minimum of 2-inches off the bottom for the excavation to fully encapsulate;
plumb or normal to the existing slope; and as applicable to the following field conditions.
(a) Soil Installation. Excavate a minimum 5.0-foot deep, 4-inch diameter hole to receive the anchor. Install epoxy coated or hot dipped galvanized all-thread #8 Grade 75 bar with attached centralizers. Completely fill drilled holes with nonshrink grout, to encapsulate anchors within drilled holes. Ensure soil holes do not collapse prior to bar installation. Grout socks are not permitted without prior approval of the CO.
(b) Rock Installation. Excavate a minimum 5.0-foot deep, 2.5-inch diameter hole to receive the anchor. Install epoxy coated or hot dipped galvanized all-thread #8 Grade 75 bar with attached centralizers. Completely fill drilled holes with nonshrink grout, to encapsulate anchors within drilled holes.
After filling anchor holes with nonshrink grout or concrete, allow cementitious material to cure, and do not disturb, or apply loads to anchors for at least three days.
651.08 Testing Mesh Dowels. Prior to installing production mesh anchors, perform a minimum of three axial pullout liftoff tests on sacrificial mesh anchors at locations approved by the CO.
Anchor testing and stressing will not be conducted until the anchor grout has attained the specified 7-day compressive strength of 3,000 pounds per square inch (psi). Following acceptance of the sacrificial tests, the passing mesh anchors may be accepted as production anchors by the CO.
During production installation of mesh anchors, test 5 percent of the installed anchors. Do not disturb or apply load to the anchors until the grout or concrete has cured for a minimum of 3 days. Complete testing before connecting any system components to anchors. Perform the test by applying a 15 kip test load to the anchor for 10 minutes, using a temporary yoke or load frame that does not apply bearing pressures on the ground within three feet of the anchor. Liftoff tests for an anchor will be accepted if an anchor maintains the test load with no loss of load.
Anchors that do not pass axial pullout liftoff testing are to be replaced as directed by the CO and at no cost to the government. Test an additional 5 percent of anchors if an axial pullout liftoff test fails during production installation.
(a) Grout Testing. Create a set of three (3) grout cubes for every 2 cubic yards of grout or 20 anchor installations, whichever is the lesser quantity, during grouting of the mesh anchors.
Sampling, preparation, curing and testing will be in accordance with ASTM C 942. An independent testing laboratory will test three (3) cubes 7 days after sampling. At no cost to the Government, the Contractor may choose to collect and test additional grout cubes for supplementary testing prior to 7 days.
