About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a solicitation for a mobile concrete laboratory trailer. The Federal Highway Administration is seeking a custom semi-trailer laboratory for their Mobile Concrete Technology Center per the attached specifications. Answers to questions clarify that axle weight estimates are approximations, a dedicated fuel tank will be required for the generator but it can also draw from the tractor tank, and the trailer will be picked up by FHWA at the manufacturer's facility rather than delivered. The solicitation number is 693JJ322Q000027 and responses are due within 30 days, though Amendment 0003 is forthcoming to revise the delivery schedule.

Are the axle weights provided in Section

3.1.3 firm contract requirements?

No. The weights are provided as an approximation based on current trailer configuration. Contract requirements call for a body and chassis compliant with legal weight limits and transportation regulations that require no special permits for use on any and all public highways with the US.

There is no mention of the fuel source for the generator in section 3.4.1.1. Will FHWA need a dedicated fuel tank or will the genset be fed from the tractor?

A dedicated fuel tank, but can draw from the tractor tank as backup.
