U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration

Wearing of Masks While at an FAA Facility

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) continues to mature policy and procedures to address the risk of exposure to COVID 19 when entering any facility owned or leased by FAA. As a result of the recent guidance issued by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), effective immediately fully vaccinated FAA employees, contractors, and visitors may choose not to wear a mask while inside FAA facilities. Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated FAA employees, visitors, and contractors are required to continue to wear a mask while on Federal property and continue to practice physical distancing.

Fully Vaccinated Employees Are not required to wear a mask.

Have the option to continue to wear a mask at work, if desired.

Will not be required to provide proof of vaccination.

Note: In accordance with CDC guidance, employees are considered fully vaccinated for COVID 19 two weeks after they have received the second dose in a two dose series, such as Pfizer BioNTech or Moderna, or two weeks after they have received a single dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson Janssen.

Employees Not Fully Vaccinated Must wear face masks in common areas (e.g. elevators, hallways, etc.) and any shared workspaces (e.g. open floorplan office space, cubicles, conference rooms, and operational areas); and Must wear face masks in outdoor shared spaces when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
