The attached preliminary plans are being furnished to aid prospective Bidders in identifying the location and type of work for this project. The project will be advertised during a period when viewing of the project may not be possible due to snow. Therefore, prospective Bidders are encouraged to view the project during fall as conditions permit. After November 10, 2017, access will be weather dependent; contact the Washington Department of Transportation for current road conditions. No Federal Highway Administration personnel will be available for show-me tours.

Project Location and Type of Work - All project work is located in Mount Rainier National Park, Pierce Counties, Washington.

• Mather Memorial Highway 1 mile north of Cayuse Pass.

• Deep culvert replacement

• Roadway stabilization using reinforced soil slopes with welded wire facing.

• New pavement

• Striping, signing

Technical Questions – All technical questions must be submitted by email plans-spec@dot.gov or FAX 360-619-7932

General Questions - Contact our office at wfl.contracts@dot.gov or at 360-619-7520.

Special Notice - Fall Weed Inspection May be Necessary

The upcoming contract will require unclassified borrow and aggregate to be secured from commercial sources. These commercial sources must pass a National Park Service weed inspection. NOTE:

Contractors will not be allowed to use sources within the Park boundaries, including “in-holder” lands. To determine if a source is acceptable, contractors must arrange for a weed inspection this Fall.

Solicitation documents - Documents will be available during the winter of 2017/2018. Please monitor the FedBizOpps (FBO) site for actual date of solicitation release (www.fbo.gov). To receive automatic notification through FBO, select the “Watch this opportunity” feature and follow the steps as indicated.
