About this file

This is a Trench Safety Act Requirement form for the Annual Civil Repairs and Maintenance contract at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International and North Perry Airports in Florida. The form mandates vendor compliance with Florida's Trench Safety Act (Sections 553.60-553.64, Florida Statutes) and OSHA excavation safety standards (29 C.F.R. Section 1926.650) for any project involving trenches exceeding 5 feet in depth. Vendors must submit the completed form with their solicitation response or within three business days of the County's request, with failure to comply potentially rendering the vendor nonresponsive. The contract scope includes civil repairs and maintenance services encompassing labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals for work in landside and airside areas, including concrete pavement repairs, asphalt paving, fencing, water and sewer installation, landscaping, runway and taxiway marking, dewatering, storm-water drainage installation, airfield electrical lighting, signage, cabling, sewer pipe lining, and directional boring.

Vendors must identify the anticipated methods and costs for complying with applicable trench safety standards, including special shoring requirements where applicable. The form provides separate sections for open-end contracts (with unit pricing) and fixed contracts (with quantities and unit pricing), with line items measured in linear feet for trenching work and square feet for special shoring. All vendors must acknowledge their awareness of the Trench Safety Act and affirm that compliance obligations are legally binding on all employed persons and subcontractors. Submissions must be made electronically through BPRO, and vendors are encouraged to submit all required and optional documentation simultaneously to facilitate timely evaluation by the County.
