All factory seams shall have a minimum scrim-to-scrim overlap of one and one half inches (1½-in.) (3.81 cm) when fabricated. Fabricated seams found to have less than the specified minimum overlap shall be repaired by adding an overlap or cap strip that provides the minimum specified overlap or will be rejected. All seams shall be made so that the thermal fusion bond extends fully to the top edge of the sheet so that no loose edges are present on the topside of the sheet.
D. Support brackets shall be grade 304 stainless steel. Brackets shall be 5 feet in length to ensure stability to the hanging polyester coated curtains with a 2:1 factor of safety in regards to load vs distance. Testing for strength of 304 stainless steel should comply with ASTM A240.
6. INSPECTION AND TESTING
A. Inspection
i. All curtains and seams shall be 100% visually inspected during fabrication. No defective seams will be allowed. All indicated design parameters shall be followed and made by the Fabricator before the panels are packaged for shipment.
B. Testing
i. In addition to visual inspection, a 48-in. (1.2 m) sample shall be taken from each factory seam welding unit used in this work at the beginning of every work shift and every four hours of production thereafter. Samples shall be non-destructive, i.e., will not require patching of fabricated panels. Test specimens shall be cut at quarter points from each 48-in. (1.2 m) seam sample (a total of three places) and tested for factory seam strength and peel adhesion.
ii. The shear seam strength shall be tested in accordance with ASTM D2261. The strength of the Polyester coating adhesion shall be tested in accordance with ASTM D2724.
Tensile strength standards shall be in accordance with ASTM D2261.
iii. A log shall be maintained showing the date, time, panel number and test results. Failure of the material and/or seams to meet all the requirements of these specifications may be cause for rejection of the Polyester material and/or seams as appropriate. The Fabricator shall provide the test results to the Owner or Engineer upon request.

7. CERTIFICATION AND TEST REPORTS
A. Prior to installation of the polyester coated curtain panels, the Fabricator/Installer shall provide the Engineer with the following certification and test reports:
i. Written certification that the factory seams were inspected and tested in accordance with Part 1 Section 6.
ii. A copy of the ANSI/NSF Standard 61 certification shall be provided for all potable grade materials.
8. PACKAGING AND STORAGE
A. Each factory-fabricated panel shall be rolled and/or accordion-folded and placed onto a sturdy wooden pallet designed to be moved by a forklift or similar equipment. Each panel shall be given prominent and unique identifying markings indicating the proper direction of unrolling and/or unfolding to facilitate layout and positioning in the field. The panels shall be packaged in heavy cardboard or wood crates fully enclosed and protected to prevent damage during shipment and each crate is to be prominently marked in the same fashion as the panels within. Until needed, packaged factory-fabricated panels shall be stored in their original unopened crates in a dry area off the ground, and protected from the direct heat of the sun, under an opaque, light colored heat reflective cover in a manner that provides a free-flowing air space between the packaged panel and the covering. Pallets should not be stacked.
B. Steel track shall be delivered in sections of 5 feet maximum to ensure that they are able to fit on a standard pallet size.
Part 2 - INSTALLATION AND FIELD TESTING
1. INSTALLATION
A. The Polyester coated curtains shall be placed on the prepared surfaces in such a manner as to insure minimum handling and in accordance with the approved shop drawings. The brackets shall be secured to all metal structures in accordance with details shown on the plan and shop drawings. Hooks attached to the bracket shall be bolted and securely fastened to the metal bracket. Before the polyester coated curtains are attached, the hooks should be checked to ensure that they have no defects during the installation. The curtains shall be securely fitted inside the drop down hooks. Wind hooks shall be installed at the ground surface as shown in the construction details. The wind hooks shall be placed every five (5) feet. All equipment and materials should be inspected before installation. Damaged equipment and materials shall not be used. Curtains shall be fully tested to move smoothly along the track once the installation has been deemed complete. Velcro shall be tested to ensure a secure fastening for each curtain.
