About this file
This is a sole source justification letter from Drone Amplified, Inc. dated February 10, 2026, submitted to the State of Utah's Division of Purchasing in support of contract opportunity AM26-63 for the procurement of an integrated aerial ignition system. The letter establishes that Drone Amplified is the exclusive provider of the IGNIS aerial ignition system and the Amplified Alta X drone platform, which together form a complete solution for wildfire and prescribed burn operations. The IGNIS system, approved by the National Interagency Aviation Committee in 2019, is the only aerial ignition solution designed for unmanned aerial systems and features capacities of up to 400 ignition spheres with drop rates of 120 spheres per minute, enabling coverage of 700 to 4,500 acres per hour depending on operational parameters. The Amplified Alta X is a customized version of the Freefly Alta X that integrates specialized electronics, thermal camera systems, custom landing gear, ADS-B receivers, Herelink Blue controllers, and field kits exclusively configured by Drone Amplified for compatibility with the IGNIS system.
The justification asserts that a sole source award to Drone Amplified is necessary because the IGNIS system, DA-Flight software application, and Amplified Alta X platform are designed, integrated, tested, and supported by Drone Amplified as a unified system, and that sourcing components from multiple vendors would create an unsupported configuration introducing significant technical and operational risks. The letter emphasizes that third-party aircraft, avionics, or payload integrations would not be validated for use with IGNIS or DA-Flight software, and that any modifications outside Drone Amplified's configuration could compromise ignition timing, drop accuracy, aircraft telemetry, and safety interlocks. Drone Amplified is also identified as the exclusive provider of manufacturer-approved training for the IGNIS system. The company is characterized as an American-owned and operated small business that designs, manufactures, and services IGNIS entirely in the United States.

To Whom It May Concern, This letter confirms that the IGNIS system and the Amplified Alta X are exclusively available through Drone Amplified.
The IGNIS system is the only aerial ignition solution designed for use with unmanned aerial systems (UAS or drones). This innovation significantly enhances operator safety, enabling firefighting personnel to manage operations remotely, away from hazardous conditions.
Developed by Drone Amplified, IGNIS leverages patented technologies, including those licensed exclusively from the University of Nebraska. As an American-owned and operated small business, Drone Amplified designs, manufactures, and services IGNIS entirely in the United States. IGNIS is sold exclusively by Drone Amplified in the United States.
IGNIS Features and Approvals
● Approved for fuels and wildfire management by the National Interagency Aviation Committee in 2019.
● Actively utilized by federal, state, and private contractors for wildfires and prescribed fires.
Key Features of IGNIS:
● Ignition Spheres: Uses standard Dragon Eggs and full-strength antifreeze.
● Capacity: Holds up to 400 ignition spheres with a drop rate of up to 120 spheres per minute.
● Area Coverage: Based on typical conditions, IGNIS can ignite:
○ 700 acres per hour (1 sphere per acre)
○ 2200 acres per hour (4 spheres per acre)
○ 4500 acres per hour (8 spheres per acre).
● Efficiency: Reloads in 2-5 minutes with a single operator.
● Construction: Lightweight and durable (1.88 kg empty, 4 kg fully loaded).
● Transport: Delivered in a robust custom case.
● Onboard Sensors: Includes obstruction detection, resistance monitoring, and temperature tracking.
● System Reliability: Features fault-tolerant subsystems.
● Accessories: Supports external camera mounts and includes a remote emergency release system.
DA-Flight Features
DA-Flight, the Android-based application for IGNIS, offers unmatched capabilities for managing the system and its drone. Support for this app is solely available though Drone Amplified.
● Full drone and IGNIS system control, with live video feed.
● Autonomous ignition planning via waypoints.
● Geofence creation to prevent drops outside designated areas.
● Offline satellite imagery and elevation map support for remote operations.
● Diagnostic and calibration tools for drones and systems.
● Flight logs and drop locations saved to spreadsheets.
AMPLIFIED ALTA X
The IGNIS system integrates with the Amplified Alta X, a highly customized version of the Freefly Alta X.
Drone Amplified is the sole provider of the Alta X with these modifications, which make the system uniquely suited for wildfire and prescribed burn operations.
Customizations include:
1. Electronics Integration: Enables compatibility with gimbals, thermal cameras, Herelink Blue controllers, ADS-B receivers, and other devices.
2. Camera Systems: Integration of gimbaled thermal cameras (e.g., Wiris Pro) with geo-tagging, gimbal control, and in-flight parameter adjustments.
3. Landing Gear: Custom landing gear and payload rails to accommodate IGNIS and camera systems.
4. Transport Enhancements: Modified transport cases for the Alta X, cameras, and field kits.
5. ADS-B Receiver: Provides situational awareness of nearby manned aircraft.
6. Herelink Blue Controller: Features a custom tablet holder for streamlined in-flight operation of all systems.
7. Field Kits: Custom cases for batteries, chargers, and spare parts.
8. Maintenance Optimization: Witness-marked screws to reduce user error during maintenance.
System Integration and Support Considerations
The IGNIS system, DA-Flight software, and the Amplified Alta X are designed, integrated, tested, and supported by Drone Amplified as a complete, unified system. The performance, safety, and reliability of this system depend on tightly coupled mechanical, electrical, and software integration across all components.
Sourcing individual components or subsystems from multiple vendors would result in an unsupported configuration and introduce significant technical and operational risk. Specifically:
● Third-party aircraft, avionics, or payload integrations would not be validated for use with the IGNIS system or DA-Flight software
● Hardware or software changes outside of Drone Amplified’s configuration could interfere with ignition timing, drop accuracy, aircraft telemetry, or safety interlocks
● Custom or third-party integrations would require additional engineering, testing, and documentation, increasing cost and delaying deployment
● System-level troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational support would be fragmented across vendors, reducing accountability and increasing downtime
● Use of non-approved configurations would void system validation and manufacturer support provided by Drone Amplified
For wildfire and prescribed fire operations, where safety, reliability, and operational tempo are critical, a fully integrated and manufacturer-supported system is required. Drone Amplified is the only entity capable of providing, supporting, and standing behind the complete IGNIS and Amplified Alta X configuration as a single operational solution.
Drone Amplified is also the exclusive provider of manufacturer-approved training for the IGNIS system.
