About this file

The file is a Salient Characteristics document for a cantilever hip roof style shade structure to be installed at JBSA Randolph. The detailed specifications outline precise structural requirements, including cold-formed structural steel meeting ASTM A-500 and A-36 standards, with specific dimensions for columns (6" x 6" x 1/3"), beams (4" x 6" x 3/16"), and structural components. Steel components will be powder coated for corrosion resistance, comply with UL 1332 requirements, and feature bolted connections following ASTM structural specifications, with no field welding permitted.

The shade structure is part of a pre-solicitation opportunity from the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command, seeking small business entities to remove, dispose, and install a replacement shade structure. The project involves precise engineering specifications, with structural elements including 10" x 30" connection plates, gusset connections using 5/8" bolts, and columns to be embedded in reinforced concrete. The solicitation is currently in the sources sought phase, indicating the government is assessing potential small business contractors for the project.
