About this file

This document is a presentation slides from an industry day event for the Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Mobile Communications System-Universal (MCS-U) program. The presentation covers the Department of Defense's (DoD) Digital Engineering (DE) campaign, the TACP-M program's digital thread and roadmap, and the Government Reference Architecture (GRA) for the MCS-U system. It discusses how the TACP-M program plans to incorporate digital engineering into the acquisition process, including providing a SysML model with the Request for Proposal and expecting contractors to update the model as part of their proposals. The presentation also outlines prospective industry digital solutions the government is seeking, such as a Cameo SysML digital solution compatible with the government's reference architecture and a dedicated SysML modeler to support reviews. The presentation is intended to inform potential offerors about the digital engineering approach for this program.

• Transition to Cameo

Objectives:

Create 80% solution of one system

Activities

• Create full model of

TACP Family of Systems

Objectives:

• Create a full IDE

CUI

How is TACP going digital?

• May provide a SysML model as part of the Request for Proposal (RFP), along with RFP documents, will give industry greater context of what Govt is requesting. Not a requirement.

• Template set up for vendor feedback that facilitates what information is desired

• Contractors providing their proposals, including potential updates to the SysML model, will give Govt greater context of their design, easier understanding of their design, allow for requirement traceability, reduce time on proposal review, and more

CUI

MCS-U GRA/GRM

GRA- Government Reference Architecture GRM – Government Reference Model

GRA

• Provide Industry with greater information from an authoritative source of truth than what can be derived from just documents

• Program Context

• System Context

• System Use Cases

• System Requirements

• Requirements Traceability

• Contractor Solution Space

• More

CUI

Prospective Industry Solutions

DE portion of the Prototype Design Phase:

• Create a Cameo SysML digital solution/model of the system that is compatible with the PMO reference architecture

• Dedicated SysML modeler/support that will support periodic digital model reviews

• Discuss roadmap for transition from SysML 1.6 to SysML 2.0

CUI

Summary

• TACP-M PMO is in the initial stages of implementing DE into the acquisition process

• The PMO plans to supply a Government Reference Model (GRM) in Cameo 2021 using SysMLv1.6

• Contractors will be expected to use and update the GRM to show how their blackbox solution interfaces with the Government Reference Architecture.
