About this file
This is a Bid Bond template issued by the City of Palm Bay, Florida, for construction projects. The bond serves as a financial guarantee accompanying a bid submission for the Pond Improvements projects at Cadillac Drive and RJ Conlan. The document establishes that the Principal (bidder) and Surety (bonding company) jointly and severally bind themselves to ensure the Principal executes a contract within fifteen (15) days of bid acceptance notification. The bond requires the Principal to execute a Public Construction Bond payable to the City in an amount equal to or exceeding the total contract price as indicated by the approximate quantities in the bid, with form and security satisfactory to the City.
The bond amount is to be determined based on the specific bid submission and serves as liquidated damages should the Principal fail to comply with the contract execution requirements within the specified timeframe. The Surety Company must be authorized to do business in Florida and appear on the Treasury Department's most current list (Circular 570 as amended). This bid bond document is required in lieu of a certified or cashier's check that would otherwise accompany the bid submission, and the Surety Company is obligated to provide a financial statement as part of the contract documentation. The bond becomes void upon satisfactory contract execution and bond posting; otherwise, it remains in full force and the Surety shall pay the bonded amount to the City upon demand if the Principal defaults.
