About this file
This is a Product Specifications document (Attachment C) for Broward County's Interior Signage project for the Public Safety Building located at 2601 W Broward Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The project requires the manufacture, packaging, and delivery of interior room identification signage, including permanent room numbers and updateable room functions that comply with the Florida Building Code, 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, and all relevant accessibility requirements. Signs are available in six types with specified dimensions ranging from 8.5" by 5.75" to 8.5" by 9", though custom sizes may be approved by the Facility Management Project Manager when required by room name length or architectural constraints. The successful bidder is responsible for manufacturing complete, labeled, and ready-to-install signage with all components properly assembled; installation will be performed by Broward County. The vendor must coordinate delivery dates with the Broward County Project Manager and ensure all signage is packaged to prevent damage during transportation and storage. Any damaged or defective signage must be replaced by the manufacturer at no additional cost to Broward County, with deliveries required during normal business hours Monday through Friday unless otherwise approved.
All signage must meet specific construction and design requirements, including uniform 8-inch width for standard paper inserts, non-glare acrylic windows, Grade II Braille specifications with hemispherical dots protruding a minimum 0.025 inches, and ADA-compliant typography using Futura font with tactile room numbers between 5/8-inch and 3/4-inch high. Signs must provide a minimum 70 percent light reflectance value contrast between characters and background with a matte or low-glare finish, utilizing specified finishes of Space Hatch base, Satin Silver trim, and White text. The vendor must submit shop drawings, finish and color samples, and full-size mock-ups for each sign type for County review and approval prior to fabrication. Mounting specifications require placement adjacent to the latch side of doors with tactile text positioned between 48 and 60 inches above finished floor, using high-strength VHB tape or concealed mechanical fasteners depending on wall substrate.
