About this file

This document is an Addendum to a Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by Argonne National Laboratory for a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) for micromechanical testing. The addendum extends the proposal due date to April 2, 2025, at 12:00 PM CST and provides clarifications on technical requirements. Specific details include a preference for a Bruker EDS system similar to the xFlash 610 or 6-30 model, with acceptance of refurbished older models, and a desire for future compatibility with potential EBSD (Electron Backscatter Diffraction) capabilities.

The solicitation is associated with the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science and requires vendors to submit a comprehensive proposal including an executed ANL-70 Request for Quotation, country of origin details, representations and certifications, and review of terms and conditions. The Bruker nanoindenter has already been procured separately, and vendors are encouraged to submit proposals addressing the specific technical requirements for the SEM with EDS system. Interested parties should contact Jenna Doria at jdoria@anl.gov for further information or questions.

03/31/2025 This addendum is being issued to modify the subject as follows:

1. To extend the proposal due date to 04/02/2025, 12:00 PM CST

2. To provide a response to the submitted questions below. Response is in red.

a. There aren’t any requirements for the requested EDS. Do you have any specific requirements for the EDS in terms of:

i. Desired sensor size

ii. Desired energy resolution

iii. Count rate

iv. EDS software capabilities For this we did not have specifics aside from a Bruker system. Something similar to a bruker xflash 610 or 6-30. Refurbished older model is acceptable.

b. Is there any anticipated future need for additional detectors to support the SEM/EDS or micromechanical tester (for example, EBSD?) This may affect the configuration of the EDS system that is provided at the initial stage.

The ability to add an ebsd in the future would be a useful capability to have if it does not strongly affect the price.

c. Has the nanoindenter already been procured or will it be procured in parallel? If the latter, are you interested in an optional bundled proposal with SEM+EDS+Nanoindenter? The bruker nanoindenter has already been procured.
